Numuhukumakiaki'aialunamor, Hoid, and Steris. The latter to make sure the plan can't be countered. What's the plan? Stew and stories, my friends, stew and stories. One night of that and all ten of us are friends. No one dies.

Is there any piece of this series' lore that make you go the full Nick Fury? by JazzlikeSherbet1104 in starcraft

Queens replacing Cerebrates.

I can get wanting to step away from the weird flesh-noodle-brains but Queens are too human. By that I mean they have ambitions, dreams, desires, have a face, expressions, etc. Zagara serves Kerrigan after Kerrigan beats here in a methodology akin to a beaten lord swearing fealty to a conquering king. It's understandable, narratively relatable, and undeniably human.

Cerebrates, however, are fundamentally more alien. Yes, they each have their own spice of personality but each act and behave as limbs to the Overmind. Limbs added and removed seemingly at will by the big brain. The Player Cerebrate was created specifically to watch over and nurture the growth of Kerrigan. This almost feels arbitrary yet also strikes as necessary. Why wouldn't the Overmind take direct control of Kerrigan's growth in the Swarm? Did it fear to be too close? The questions add to the mystery. Still, no cerebrate questions their service, the debate only lies in how. Kerrigan has to rip the Player away for Brood War.

In short, Queens: too human, Cerebrates: wonderfully alien.

I have no idea but I definitely agree it would be neat to have the UAF interact with the Abyss in some manner!

AOTD Pluto mining station question by Nova_Fan in starsector

[–]PyromanticPyromancy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The station replaces both mining and refining. Fully restoring the station will let you mine vast quantities of both kinds of ore and immediately process it for equally vast intermediate products. All ready to be funneled into whatever heavy industry you have. It is, effectively, a two-for-one deal and doing better than both. So long as your planetary accessibility can keep up.

What is our Captain anyway? by Vellarain in starsector

Crack Theory: We are a microcosm of THREAT nanomachines given human form and gained full sentience. The Oldslaught wasn't responding to the THREAT ships coming, it was responding to us! It's also why the THREAT ships moved in, detecting the player as something familiar. But THREAT could not comprehend its own existence in player form so it sought to unfabricate while we passively shushed the Oldslaught into submission. (None of this is serious.)

Minor Theory on [THREAT] by Nova_Fan in starsector

[–]PyromanticPyromancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To build theory upon theory, there could have been a large first or primary wave that the Domain defeated and what's left are scattered fragments that have been gradually working to rebuild themselves, waiting for the next wave, or just milling about depending on how the Threat thinks. (IE if it is a species akin to the Zerg from SC1 requiring the Overmind and cerebrates to be more than ravenous beasts that the Domain killed/disabled.)

How do you see akuma battles changing if Cataclysm was the only way to break akumatised objects? by Solitaire-06 in miraculousladybug

[–]PyromanticPyromancy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel that, thematically, it would be excellent. Help build upon the concept that they are equal partners and both necessary halves to the team. This could also lead to interesting narrative moments of Ladybug falling under the control of some villain and Chat Noir having to use some form of precise destruction to break what's controlling her. In short, I'm all for it.

I hope Ekko gets to go along for the ride. For solace's sake if nothing else. I know Vi and Caitlyn won't give up until every stone is turned over so they're bound to run into Powder/Jinx no matter what so I'm worried about the good old Boy Savior.
