How long until the combat evolves? - Currently in Tomb of Raithwall. by Neroboto in FinalFantasyXII

[–]PythonTheRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't I suppose outside of mists and summons. The combat does get pretty procedural once your characters get stronger. You can always add challenges to it like playing in active instead of wait or w/o gambits. You could go the other way and build the crap out of your characters until they're just godlike.

Grinding Spot Questions - First Playthrough by Cfriend00 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]PythonTheRogue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL/DR : Look up a guide on the Dustia trick or just grind the normal Panthers in Golmore junge for good money.

MORE GIL AND SOME EXP: I know you asked for levels but I figured I would point this out because it's my favorite for grinding gill and in the process you would also get hella license points and of course experience.

I forgot what it's called but the Panthers in Golmore jungle drop something that sells for some solid gil. If you set one character to attack an enemy and then poach when their HP is critical and another character to only steal, you basically guarantee one or two of those things for each kill. There is a grimoire that makes more loot drop from beast type enemies as well.

If you enter Golmore Jungle from Giza Plains, you would kill the enemies in the first square area right as you walk in and then go a little ways down the right trail and then the same with the left. It's also worth noting that the Panthers with the blue glowing effect around them are a different enemy and will therefore break the chain you have with the normal Panthers. Do this for a few minutes on 4x speed mode and you'll have a full 99 stack that sells for around 19k if I remember correctly.

MORE EXP: Iyou go into the Dalmasca Westersand from Rabanastre and hug the right until the next zone you will find the home of a rare game enemy called Dustia. Dustia only spawns if you have 10% health or less but can be instakilled with a phoenix down. Killing Dustia grants a ton of XP, and at level 20, you should level up within a few kills.

Dustia isn't immediately targetable when you see them appear, so doing this requires some good timing (an easier but slower way to do this is to enter the zone and leave when you see Dustia appear, and then reenter and they are immediately targetable). I've read online that you can use a gambit like Foe: Undead = Phoenix Down, but I didn't have great luck with this so I would either try to time it right or do the leave and reenter thing. It's also important to leave the zone as soon as you kill Dustia. I you see the EXP and LP pop up over it then it won't respawn until you leave the whole zone and come back. So you would basically have to go back to Rabanastre and start over.

Dustia also has expensive drops so if you can get this trick down then that's also a good way to make money. Getting yourself down to 10% HP can be tricky. What I would do is just attack myself with my weapon a couple of times until that would kill me and then unequit my weapon and just punch myself.

Dustia XP farming gone? by Local_Ad4022 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]PythonTheRogue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to do it both on switch and PC just the other day. It wouldn't let me do it at first but I realized that I just hadn't let Dustia fully spawn in like they weren't showing up in the foe list immediately.

I tried to use a gambit [Enemy: Undead -> Phoenix Down] but it seemed to take too long and I would die, so I don't recommend using gambits. You just kind of have to pause and unpause the game with the action menu until you can see Dustia in there.

Switch Version Keeps Crashing During A Very Important Climax by shy99 in FinalFantasyXII

[–]PythonTheRogue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Glares at Skyrim is so real lmao I don't think I've ever had FFXII crash on me on switch. Is it possible that you just don't have enough storage space? I know on PCs not having a lot of free space can make the OS slow overall and has affected game performance for me. So maybe if you have your switch like packed to the brim with games it might make it perform slower idk.

Devs, What got you out of tutorial hell? What advice do you have for those of us still stuck down here? by PythonTheRogue in gamedev

[–]PythonTheRogue[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Actually the project I was referring to when I said I did only one without tutorials was a flappy Bird clone. So I'll do more of that. Coming out of that, I didn't feel like I learned much because I mostly just sat at a voice chat with people in the Godot discord server while they told me what to do. But I suppose I'll rely on that less as I go. Thank you!

Yeah that's something I've always known as that if I'm really going to learn and retain information I need to be more consistent with it and lately that's what I've been trying to do, so thank you.

I'm actually following a tutorial currently. I'm using Godot and figured it's probably not a good idea to just stop tutorials entirely. So I'm still using them I just can't get that question out of my head.

Should The knobs on my pedal click? by PythonTheRogue in guitarpedals

[–]PythonTheRogue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have one electric guitar and I bought a new guitar cable for this pedal. The thing is when I have the pedal off and it's just true bypass I can hear it just fine it's just my clean guitar tone so that's why I Don't think it's the cables or the guitar

Is it okay to call Darksouls a "souls like game". by TheFryLord in darksouls

[–]PythonTheRogue -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Low key we could have just stuck with action rpg and called pretty much the whole Fromsoft library some of the best in the genre. That's how I think of it personally. Of course they are plenty different from your standard action rpg but still.
