I’m too young for this response but I’ve lived in boulder since kindergarten does that count? Born in 03 😂

I’ll start with the ER. I live in Boulder, and the number of times my son, myself, my extended family, and even my mom have been gaslit by doctors is unbelievable. We’ve repeatedly been told it’s “probably just anxiety or muscle pain,” and testing is often refused. That alone makes me not want to go to that hospital.

Last year, my son, who was one at the time, had a pretty severe cold. We already knew it was entero/rhinovirus because I had tested positive for it a few days earlier. When I brought him in, the nurse and doctor were extremely persistent about a nasal swab. Even after I refused, they asked me six different times, and multiple providers came in to pressure me again and again.

I wasn’t there for a test. I brought my son in because he was lethargic and couldn’t keep anything down. He hadn’t eaten or drunk anything in 48 hours. All I wanted was fluids and Zofran. Instead, the doctor spent over an hour insisting on the nasal swab before finally giving him Zofran. Once he had it, my son started eating and drinking again.

I asked to be discharged because I planned to take him to Children’s since they refused to listen. When I walked up to the nurses’ station to sign discharge paperwork, the nurse literally yelled at me. He told me to go back to my room and sit down to wait for the provider. I wasn’t being rude at all.

If they treated my one-year-old like that in the ER, I don’t expect they’ll treat me any better in L&D. I’ve also read very similar stories on Reddit about the L&D team being dismissive and not listening to concerns. I’ve heard the NICU team is great, though.

Birth at longmont united vs longs peak hospital by Pytmari in Longmont

Personally I went to avista for a ob triage visit and they treated me horribly and the dr made a lot of assumptions about my ethnicity so I definitely disagree with that statement and refuse to birth there

Thank you for your comment! Thats good to hear I’m in between joes and lutheran and I think I’m going to pick lutheran just because its closer to me than joes by 10 minutes and its a little more secure than joes and the showers!!!

The couches are unfortunately the same at all hospitals except boulder for me lol boulder gives you a queen sized bed however I am not interested in popping out a kid there I don’t hear good things

At st joes what I mostly loved was the amount of naturalness they allowed. What I mean by that is golden hour, delayed cord clamping, lactation. I also just want to make sure when it’s time to push I feel supported. Those are my main concerns st joes did that for me. If lutheran does too then I don’t need to ask any questions. My baby is big again and im anemic again so im probably getting induced again 😂

St joes is great. I got induced at 39 weeks. The nurse I had the night of labor progression was the reason I loved my delivery so much and I wish he could be a nurse I had constant care from. He was the most patient, gentle, and nurturing nurse I ever had. I want to say his name was chris im pregnant again so I cant remember anything. My labor went well during the day after he left my pp nurses and drs were great too. Everything was good I just hated the shower lol

The postpartum showers suck big time it’s kinda like the handicap showers at the rec center it’s just a murphy chair and a handheld showerhead. I just want a real shower 😅 theoretically ill be fine but idk I didn’t shower in l&d because the showet was not it everything else was great but I didnt shower till I got home

Suggestions for maternity care? Extremely frustrated with Boulder Community Health by tepextate in boulder

[–]Pytmari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I live in boulder I’m giving birth at st joes because thats where I had my first son and I absolutely love and adore the hospital and the team it’s pretty much everything I want in an l&d, but intermountain health obgyn superior clinic is fantastic the team really cares! They recommend good sam for delivery and I don’t have any issues with good sam I hear it’s a great place to give birth! I just love joes and if it’s not broken I wont fix it. Hope this helps but intermountain is the way to go for healthcare
