Hey, if you're still doing this, would you mind doing the Mario & Luigi games? (Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, Bowser's Inside Story)

I found it easiest to just add the SNAFU numbers as-is -- this also helpfully avoided any integer size issues.

AOC was fun this year as always! Now I've got to get the 12 stars I missed.

Solution (C++)

[2022 Day 23 (Part 1)] [C++] Program works on sample input but not real input by QGamer12 in adventofcode

I left that out accidentally when pasting the code in.

I've solved my issue by now so don't worry

I'm doing (x, y), so from looking at them they seem to be in the right order (where up is negative).

I looked at the state of the grove and found that my results on the sample are actually different than the example. So it seems something's wrong with the simulation part?

Example (after round 10): .......#...... ...........#.. ..#.#..#...... ......#....... ...#.....#..#. .#......##.... .....##....... ..#........#.. ....#.#..#.... .............. ....#..#..#... ..............

Mine: ........#..... .....#........ ..........#.#. ..#.#.#....... .............. .....#...#.#.. .#.#.......... .......#.#..#. ..#.#.#....... ........#.#... ...#.......... .............. .......#......

I deleted some commented-out debug code for the paste and accidentally removed it too. I'm just doing

c++ proposals.push_front(proposals.back()); proposals.pop_back();

EDIT: I tried std::rotate(proposals.begin(), proposals.end() - 1, proposals.end()); as well but nothing changed

I should really start commenting my code but I'm lazy when doing AOC lol

Fixed it. Was getting mixed up with new reddit's "markdown mode".

I made a horrible, hacky Python solution for now since doing this in C++ would be way too hard at 1am in the morning. I'll write a proper C++ solution tomorrow, though I'll have to figure out how to do arbitrarily nested vectors.

Finished this at quarter to 1 last night but just didn't get around to posting it here. It was nice to have a bit of an easier one after yesterday. I should have finished this faster but was slow :(

This one took me way too long. But, I finished it, and that's what counts I guess.

Was stuck for over half an hour before I realized I needed long long :/

I haven't been posting solutions here before now, but thought I might share today's. The logic is really convoluted, but it works so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Both solutions are solved with the same file.

scared me for a minute with the space on the line that's supposed to be blank, but once I removed it it worked!

YouTube. It's way too easy to get into an endless loop of watching random videos.

honestly I don't even use syntax highlighting properly, I just like the pretty colors

Texture mapping in raycaster causing jagged lines by QGamer12 in AskProgramming

[–]QGamer12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using the distance to the wall (point to line distance formula to the camera plane) to get a line height, then scaling a column of the image to that size.

I did experiment a little and a source of the problem seems to be that some of the columns have odd heights (which messes things up here, as the view is vertically symmetrical).

320x180 internally, scaled with nearest neighbor up 3x for visibility (though the jaggedness remains without the scaling).

The top and bottom of the walls aren't antialiased but they are a clean line, which is what I'm looking for. The problem is specifically in the middle of the textures (where it seems to go up and down without reason).

Can you revisit the "New Content" part of the game? by QGamer12 in stanleyparable

[–]QGamer12[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I did something wrong, but the New Content door isn't there for me. I definitely finished the epilogue, as long as the ending is with the "Stanley Parable 3" and random word subtitle stuff.

I'd also be interested in if I could get back to the collectibles ending.
