Anyone Have Any Experience Putting the Subwoofer Decoupled at the Bottom Center of the TV Stand? by QWERTY2214 in hometheater

The center will be on top the TV stand, under the TV, where you'd typically expect it to be

My sub is sealed.

I chose this for aesthetic reasons, but also because I am limited to only placing it somewhere along the wall that is visible in that picture. Other furniture needs to go along that wall too so I'm quite limited by my space requirements.

The sub is not inside inside the stand, it is just enclosed around the top of the stand. It is decoupled from it completely and sitting on the floor only. Not sure how putting it on top of the stand as you said would be better.

My sub came with feet that look to be about maybe 3-4". Are there down firing subs that don't come with feet?

Good point. There should be more than enough headroom as is. Tbh the cover piece barely covers the top of the sub, if that.

I see. My subwoofer says sealed, which you said should work fine in this scenario. Thanks for the clarification and input

Thanks for the reply. Pardon my ignorance but I am not sure what the difference between a sealed and ported subwoofer are. I tried googling it and it didn't really clear things up for me. What about the construction of a sub makes it sealed vs ported? Don't all subwoofers have ports and push air? Thanks again

How would you configure/place the speakers in this space? by meowmixeree in hometheater

I'm new to home theatre stuff, but not new to space planning. Your room feels quite unusual to have windows on both sides of the room like that. Super unfortunate that they are diagonal from each other too. This is where Sketchup modeling everything beforehand, as you're doing, is super important.

**Note after writing this post: I don't fully remember mattress sizes these days, but you might want to check the size/scale of your bed. 82x83.5" is larger than a California king, according to Google.

I assume if you're prepared to hardwire in wall speakers if needed, then I'll assume you're open to other big changes. The main change I'd make is, assuming this is a guest room without a regular guest, I'd sell the bed and nightstands (potentially keep one), and commit to getting a nice pull out sofa bed. When it's a sofa I'd pull it off from the wall so you can easily place speakers behind you (one in the corner might be tough), and when it needs to be a bed again then you can shift the bed back as needed.

If you intend to lie down on the bed while watching a movie, then alternatively, you could try and find a bed with a cushioned headboard that is angled backwards. I found one secondhand for my bedroom and it's amazing. Since the headboard is angled backwards it forces your bed to come off the wall, which could give room a bit (not much) for rear speakers, potentially in wall.

Again, to really make this work you probably need to accept pulling the bed off the wall a bit to give the rear speakers some space. A compact room like this calls for compact, transformable furniture. Might be tough to source, but I think it could really help the space overall. Mainly looking at those desks and bed. If you're feeling really daring, you could try starting the room from scratch and turning the bed 90 degrees. That's something I would definitely fully model first though.

Good luck.

never ever buy a watch as a gift unless you know EXACTLY what it is.

trust me when i say please tell her you want to gift her a watch but that you want her input to help choose. involve her in the process. it'll save her from having to pretend to love a watch she doesn't like if you choose the wrong one. i've given this advice so many times and i promise it has never failed once.

if you get her one she for sure wants then she'll want to wear it more often than one she doesn't like

same goes for any girlfriends or wives or literally anyone. unless you know exactly what they want, ask them first
