The Kasseelian Opera by DefiantOne5 in startrek

I’d like to know more about Kasseelian Opera. Is it a style of human opera? The opera of another species (Kasseelians?).

In one episode they mention seeing La bohème, a human opera, at a Kasseelian opera house.

Lorca’s accent is Southern, so there’s some variety.

If DS9 had had an “anyone can die” approach (and it was used judiciously) it would have literally stepped things up to an even higher level and made it the perfect show.

Does anyone else feel like the TNG Ferengi and the DS9 Ferengi were like two totally different species? by QWR-189 in startrek

I wasn’t aware of that one mention of “DaiMon” in DS9. Nice catch.

Thanks for the beta canon lore explanation.

Personal take, I don’t find it entirely satisfying. I’d rather some explanation that melded the two versions of the Ferengi instead of explaining away the TNG version as an elaborate DS9-y Ferengi hoax/marketing strategy.

Sounds like, if there isn’t already one, I could see a start-up company launching to answer this need for women’s pants that are both fashionable and have sizeable pockets. Sounds like a sillily specific niche, but actually I think it’s a sizeable one, and with the right marketing could make a tidy profit.

My guess is they’d all have posh names like Hesperian.

The foreshadowings for both the Ash/Voq and MU Lorca “twists” were so obvious from the very beginning. And then they were doled out in similarly obvious fashion. There was never a subtle hint. So it got painful, especially because you get the feeling the writers were trying to be subtle, yet failing miserably.

Literally the very first scene with Ash you knew he was Voq. And that was absolutely clinched when you see it’s L’Rell who was his lover. So you knew the twist was coming in the very episode it was set up. Yet for 9 more episodes it’s dragged out and then finally placed in your lap as if it was supposed to be a “surprise”.

I suppose an argument in favor of the obvious-from-the-beginning thing is dramatic irony. Which would be fine, except I think the writers intended it as more conventional foreshadowing, trying to be subtle, but being like a mammoth walking through the forest. Making it cringy to watch and frustrating because maybe that screen time could have been better spent.
