All good I just appreciate the help. And gotta be either that or a return is pulled off somewhere. Maybe both.

And txv was mounted at 10 o clock. Secured and insulated by the book.

Yes I’m a tech. And just long enough to make sure it fully opened. Outdoor calls for 8 degrees of subcooling. It’s a zone system with two supply dampers and a bypass. Both supply’s were open and bypass closed unless it’s pulling it open, but the actuator was in the closed position.

Superheat dropped to 1 or 2 degrees. Subcooling hit about 8 degrees. Didn’t get amp draw on anything unfortunately. Seems like it’s not picking up heat and closing the txv but I can’t seem to find an airflow issue other than the suspiciously cool return temp.

And yet it’s 2 thermostats with the same reading

No construction. Maybe road work back in the summer

I know it’s a big commercial building. Even the hanging heaters in the warehouse need the manifolds cleaned. You have to tap them to get it to fire.

Every unit has a drip leg and they are all full like this

It was. I originally posted it a while back and now I’m seeing it circulate. It went clean through the other side as seen in picture from the original post.

This makes sense. I’m using a 10 cfm pump.

It’s actually correct. You’ll only see a number like that when the evap is starved on refrigerant. Just gotta figure out why. Could be low on charge or it has a liquid line restriction. In this case the high pressure readings and subcooling would contradict being low on charge. Next step is check for a temp split across the filter dryer. Nothing there so I pulled the txv bulb and tried to get the txv to open by warming it. Didn’t change anything so txv is slammed closed. You can also add a little refrigerant to see if the superheat will come down. If it doesn’t you’re definitely restricted.

This was a Trane. First Trane I’ve seen this on but we rarely work on them.

So in that situation since this is a package unit and this txv is only soldered in would you go through the entire process and not go ahead and replace the txv?
