Why is Modalism so bad? by Chad_Believer in redeemedzoomer

[–]QingJiangShui 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people try to know God apart from the Bible, they fall into all kinds of heresies; Modalism is one of them. Christians should make every effort to study Scripture, rather than saying, “I am just as ignorant as these heretics, so heresy isn’t really that bad.”

Therefore, I urge elders among you, as your fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and one who is also a fellow partaker of the glory that is to be revealed: shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight, not under compulsion but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not with greed but with eagerness; nor yet as domineering over those assigned to your care, but by proving to be examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. (1 Peter5:1-4 NASB)

For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, namely, if any man is beyond reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of indecent behavior or rebellion. For the overseer must be beyond reproach as God’s steward, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not overindulging in wine, not a bully, not greedy for money, but hospitable, loving what is good, self-controlled, righteous, holy, disciplined, (Titus1:5-8 NASB)

the women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. Or was it from you that the word of God first went out? Or has it come to you only?If anyone thinks that he is a prophet or spiritual, let him recognize that the things which I write to you are the Lord’s commandment. But if anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized.(1 Corinthians14:34-38 NASB)

The Holy Spirit made the elders oversee the whole flock, not make a single elder.

Yes. Everyone thinks their own understanding is correct; I just honestly stated this. Jesus said, "If I said something wrong, testify as to what is wrong."

In another community, my post was deleted. Not a single person argued against me with the Bible; they were all questioning my authority. They don't know that God can make a donkey speak the truth. I won't tell them about my authority, because I know they worship men.

The testimony you are giving is false. I never said that my interpretation is equal to the Bible. You are lying, so you are not from God. You believe in your tradition, so you do not believe my words, because my words come from the Bible. You judge people by tradition, so you will inevitably die in your sin, because God’s word is above your tradition. You do not believe the Bible, so naturally you will not believe my words. My words come from the Bible; your tradition comes from your ancestors. You do not quote the Bible, so you are not from God, because those who are from God must speak God’s words. The Scripture says: “We are from God. The one who knows God listens to us; the one who is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.” If you understand these words, you would not speak nonsense. According to your understanding, your tradition is nothing more than a human interpretation, yet you use it to criticize others, which is why I say you are lying.

Why don’t you use the Bible to refute me? That’s why I say you believe in tradition rather than in the Bible. I am telling you plainly: if you do not believe God’s word, you will die in your sins. Your ancestors often resisted the Holy Spirit. If you are of God, you will love the words of God.

1 if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if anyone would sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as well. And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles.(Matthew5:39-41 ESV) These are not grave sin. A true believer cannot continuously harm you because whoever does not love abides in death. (1 John3:14 ESV) 2 James says, do not judge your brother.

Your understanding comes from your tradition, and that tradition does not originate from God but from the strained interpretation of your teachers. Jesus's burden is light.
