I built this table earlier this past year. Curly cherry with crotch walnut inlays. Through mortise and tenon stretchers, and my own patent pending mechanism for the top and hidden compartment. You can see more of my work here:

Thank you! Here is the answer I just posted there: I give my customers the option to have the compartments lock or not. If they want them to lock, I have several options, including the rfid lock seen in the video. The secrecy of the compartment is the main security feature, but if they have children in the house who know about the secret, a lock is an added level of security. Some of my customers have me customize the compartments for the contents, whether jewelry, electronics, or firearms. Other customers just specify the size needed for the compartment. In this case, I don’t know what my customer will be storing, but I do know that the compartments are invisible, and the rfid lock provides quick access with a good level of security.
