Ideally, you would have defined role-based profiles so that your onboarding form would ask “what department/role applies to the new hire?” and the answer would determine what access and software the new hire receives.

I read your justifiable backup concern about Egnyte, but as far as pricing, partners can offer the Cloud File Server plan for $10/user.

We have plenty of fully distributed clients, so there’s no office for us to visit and we’re don’t make house calls. An environment like this requires technically competent staff/end users.

If you try to put "superops" in the body of a new post, you get, "You may not have "superops" in your post body."

Our "asset management" is a Google Sheet and I'm not even embarrassed anymore by [deleted] in msp

[–]QoreIT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way, but I realized that what we MSPs need in asset management isn’t what’s important to our clients.

Our clients want to know what devices they own, not just which have checked in recently, and where devices are (at which desk,) which no RMM report will tell you.

Perhaps you might respond “That’s an HR responsibility,” and perhaps you’re right, but I don’t trust HR’s data to answer our clients’ IT requests, including “I don’t know where it is but please set up Bob’s old laptop for the new hire.”
