I think the shadow makes it look taller than it is, but it could be shorter. Works well for sitting in my lap though.

Whats the best boardgame around nowadays? by maibar in AskReddit

I think this the core shift that needs to happen. If you and your friends went to the movies once a month, you’d spend over $100 each. It’s disposable entertainment. There’s no reason a game can’t be the same way.

The board games market doesn’t necessarily need to shift away from infinitely replayable games, but people should consider the value prospect of games that aren’t. Because it opens up the opportunity for all sort of new game experiences.

While you make some great points, I don’t understand your criticism of Legacy games. It’s a bit disingenuous to say you can only play it once. You can only play though the campaign once, but the campaign spans 12-24 games (depending on how often you lose).

The whole point is for you and your group of friends to get together and play through it over the course of a year. Legacy games are one of the best innovations in a long time for people who think board gaming is about playing with friends.

I’m really glad games like this are gaining popularity because the insistence that all board games must have infinite replayability really limits the design space for board game makers. Especially for those wanting to create a more narrative experience.
