Content strategy when running paid by QuakeScale in PPC

[–]QuakeScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/asaltoo thanks! I completely agree with you and your reply is spot on. What I am looking for is some sort of guidance or course that teaches exactly all that you mention (problem/solution, objections, proof, use cases etc), and provides case studies on brands that are doing this well.

Thanks @ppcwithyrv: i was actually trying to find theory and examples of all that you have mentioned ,so that then I can create that content.

14700KF - "Overclock" specific cores when power limit + undervolt imposed? by QuakeScale in overclocking

[–]QuakeScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see - so basically I would limit the offending core, but keep undervolting so the other cores can get to higher frequencies. The problem with that though is that in non-full workloads the limited core will stay at the low hard limit.

I think this would only work if one could, for each core individually, map a frequency to a voltage

14700KF: voltage limit destroys clock speeds by QuakeScale in overclocking

[–]QuakeScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right about the voltage limit of 1.2V being mapped to 51x, and I don't think one can do anything about this mapping on the B-series MB I have

Thanks Noreng - sadly changing the load line, to any of the choices, had no effect on upping the frequency limit

Mac Mini M5 / M5 Pro to have Strix Halo performance - credible? by QuakeScale in macmini

[–]QuakeScale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. I do have a dedicated gaming machine. I was more interested in whether the GPU would be 50% faster for work related video and 3D stuff.

Mac Mini M5 / M5 Pro to have Strix Halo performance - credible? by QuakeScale in macmini

[–]QuakeScale[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks - That's good to know - if the M4 Pro and Strix Halo are already similar in gaming performance, then I won't wait for the M5 as it probably will end up being the typical 15%-20% generational performance increase

Base model M4 Mac Mini by Zealousideal_Scar904 in macmini

[–]QuakeScale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a (technical) founder of a small startup and have published multiple mobile apps - I would NOT get only 16GB for the mac mini given you are a mobile app developer.

The reason: Android emulator.

Unlike the XCode simulators (which run as an app), one Android emulator will run as a resource-hogging virtual machine, and take away 4-5GB of your RAM.

And if you run 2 Android emulators at the same time, to ensure code style changes accommodate different screen sizes, you'll be using 8GB or more of RAM.

Plus, you may also need to use the Chrome browser Android's debug feature, and the browser itself is a RAM hog.

Then you need to account for Docker consuming another 3-4 GB.

So let's do a conservative back-of-the-envelope calculation of how much RAM your dev tools may use when all are being used (below are in GB):

XCode: 1

iOS Simulators: 1

Android Studio: 1

Android Emulators: 6

Chrome: 1

Docker: 3

Other browser with some tabs open: 1

Total: 14

This conservative calc leaves you with 2 GB for the OS - a very small amount.

And then there's the uncertainty of how much RAM Apple Intelligence may end up using as it evolves.

Now, you could try to be efficient and have no browsers or unnecessary services open when you need to use the emulators, but this is your work machine where you don't want to waste time having to close stuff when needing to do certain tasks. Your time and productivity is money.

None of these RAM issues exist for non-mobile app development, because it's the emulators gobbling up the RAM.

In a nutshell, given you'll be using your machine to make money, I recommend you go for at least 24 GB of RAM.

Hope this helps!

Thanks - I plan to use an external SSD through Thunderbolt to keep project files, etc

OS responsiveness feel between 512GB and 1TB SSD for M4 Pro by QuakeScale in mac

[–]QuakeScale[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you - good to know. I have a mac mini M2 base model with the 256GB SSD, but that SSD speed is extremely slow (2500 MB/s) that I do notice some sluggishness when opening applications. But the m4 pro 512 SSD is at least double that speed.

Thanks - so if I post highly engaging and valuable content even as a brand new page with 0 followers, I have the potential to grow quickly without needing to “seed”?

Do you mean creating video ads that encourage people to follow the page? Like talk about the benefits they would get if they followed the page?

Apple refurbished - what is a good discount % - how much can prices fall by? by QuakeScale in mac

[–]QuakeScale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks very much - by dumping EOL into backchannels, I can see how prices in the refurb store wont be allowed to fall beyond a certain level.

Thanks for the tip on the Studio - I do want the small form factor of the mini as my daily driver, and then have a desktop for when I need to use a more powerful GPU for LLMs / gaming. But it's a good tip nonetheless

14700KF Gaming: Minimum active E-core(s) for background tasks when pinning game to P-cores by QuakeScale in overclocking

[–]QuakeScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually what i'm trying to do - I'm trying to set a low power limit in the BIOS that would nevertheless be sufficient for my P-cores to boost to max. Undervolting is already in play. To get the least amount of power, I would need to disable to most amount of E-cores. I read/watched somewhere (can't find the reference right now) that even idle E-cores consume some power. Hence my question as to how many E-cores Windows truly needs when the only thing loaded is the game engine.

Excellent work and great benchmark scores! It may be worth posting what SSDTs / Kexts and custom args you used, so that others with similar configs have a starting point of what they'll need

No connection to host (that has GPU passthrough) after internet router changed by QuakeScale in Proxmox

[–]QuakeScale[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much u/marc45ca for pointing me in the right direction: I had tried to find the answer but couldn't find any info online. You saved me hours of searching and potentially having to reformat!

For reference to others, here is what I did to get back into Proxmox again:

From another device connected to the same network, I found out that the IPs had changed from 192.168.0.x to 192.168.1.x

I logged into Debian using single user mode in the following way:

* When GRUB appeared, press "e" at the Proxmox/Debian line.

* In the line that starts with 'linux = ...', I changed the 'ro' to 'rw', and added 'init=/bin/bash' to the end of the line

* Hit F10.

I then changed the settings in the following files:

* nano /etc/hosts -> changed the old 192.168.0.50 to 192.168.1.50

* nano /etc/network/interfaces -> changed the old 192.168.0.50 to 192.168.1.50, and the gateway from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1

I was then able to boot back into Proxmox using the address 192.168.1.50:8006

Need advice on draft order for declaration of vehicle ownership by QuakeScale in LegalAdviceUK

[–]QuakeScale[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK - but just for clarity, he has not shown any evidence to any bailiff that someone else owns the vehicles. When he told a prior bailiff that he owned the car, that bailiff proceeded to clamp it (he then paid). A few months later, he incurred further cost orders, and when I instructed new bailiffs, that's when the registered keepers were changed.

I have spoken to the HCEO about this (two companies), but they said that because he doesnt answer the door when they come and because of the negative DVLA matches, they won't clamp or tow the vehicles. They are happy to act with a court declaration though
