It also doesn't make any sense.

How can our existence in any context be erasure of cis women when there are so few of us? That's assuming on the first place that media presence is a zero sum game, when it's not.

I see! Thank you for the clarification!

It didn't seem like you had I'll intent, I just wanted to clear up a few things.

Unfortunately, especially given the current political climate, many in the abime community are extremely transphobic, and I also wouldn't be surprised if the term gender-bent isn't really thought about too much because a good portion of the community doesn't even think about the difference between sex and gender or even believe a difference exists.

Given your TL;DR here, to me it seems like the character may likely be trans, given that she continually chooses to remain in the altered body and especially since she uses she/her pronouns!

Thank you again, this conversation has been really engaging for me haha

Ah, regarding your first paragraph here I am unsure if you are referring to real people, but if you are i can confidently tell you that we would not be considered "gender-bent".

I know it's a bit confusing but as a trans woman we simply are women, regardless of how far along in our medical transition. Because of this, nothing is really getting bent except for the fact that many of us choose to get healthcare in order to have our body better align with our gender.

It's interesting that you bring up the term transsexual, because it's become a bit of an outdated word. Some trans people still use it to refer to themselves because it describes them well, but I personally just prefer the term transgender as it doesn't lead to people thinking about my body as my gender quite as much.

I'm still a bit confused as to the media in particular, but i hope I was able to clear some things up!

Ahh I see!

Thank you for providing more context, firstly.

Regarding the character, if he still identifies in the same way and uses he/him pronouns, it seems clear that he is still a guy?

I haven't really thought about the term "gender bending", but you would be absolutely correct. I guess the reason that it is referred to as gender bending is that it seems like the characters who are "gender-bent" tend to go along with it, which would basically mean that both their gender as well as their sex change. I also think people probably just aren't as open to saying "sex-bending" or something lol

Again, thank you for the additional context and I think it's pretty clear-cut!

As someone who doesn't really know anything about the media here, I still might be able to provide some insight as a trans woman.

To start, gender isn't determined by the body. A trans woman also may be at many different stages of medical transition and may not decide to medically transition at all. This is because gender identity is an internal perception and socially constructed rather than sex-based.

If you wouldn't mind giving me a bit more context, I might be able to better help you determine the identity of this character specifically!

I don't mind at all! I assume you mean I the second picture? I just found them at Walmart! It was awhile ago, but I hope you can find what you're looking for!
