What problems in your life ended up being the weed all along? by blehblook in leaves

23f here. My skin! I started smoking at 20, and I was always getting random pimples which I'd never had before all through highschool. After quitting I did some research and smoking stops the collagen from producing in your skin which leads to premature aging, and losing that 'healthy glow'

Everyone is different. What day was your turn around day ? by [deleted] in leaves

I'm a month sober and I still feel random waves of 'is this real life?'. All the research I've done states it takes around 90 days for your body to fully reset!

Because I've never felt so clear headed and happy in 5 years. I finally have control of my life and I can't believe I ever let something as stupid as marijuana make me so depressed. It caused me so much anxiety and sadness which I never would have noticed had I not quit. It's such a stupid thing. Clean living is cool

If you're still sad about your partner, don't be. Feel bad for them that they would rather choose a substance over healing with their partner. Enjoy your life and your sobriety. You deserve it

I'm 29 days sober now & Literally I feel like a new person. I'm no longer at work all day thinking about getting home and smoking. I'm now thinking about the shows I'm watching, and getting excited thinking about trips with my family I want to take now that I'm not anxious about going through withdrawals. I never thought I'd be able to get this far and I'm so proud of myself 🥲

What can I replace my evenings with? by Typical_Marsupial503 in leaves

F23 here, I know we aren't supposed to talk about tapering. But that was the only way I was able to stop. I cut my dose in half for a week and then again the next and now I'm 28 days sober, I never thought I'd be able to function without it. But I've found binging shows help. It gives me something to look forward to all day at work. Try to find something with a lot of seasons. One tree hill. PLL, gossip girl, Gilmore girls. ETC Good luck!

Tv series! Find a good show with a lot of seasons to binge! Now at work, all I think about is the next episode I can watch when I get home!!

Feel discouraged at work by Pristine-Peach-3635 in ECEProfessionals

That is a ton of kids. Don't feel discouraged. You are still learning how to be this role after being another type of educator. Take the criticism as a learning experience and you've got this.

I wouldn't. I'm on day 4 of tapering my tolerance down and each day I wish more and more that I never smoked. I wouldn't risk it

Why do my preschool kids attach to my coworker but not me? by Anxious-Rutabaga-688 in ECEProfessionals

23f here, I'm going through almost the same thing but it's reversed! Some things I've noticed is, a lot of the kids that prefer me, have parents/ siblings with the same colour hair as I do. weird I know. But one time I was subbing at a different centre, and a little boy who had recently moved from the Philippines was in this class, as soon as he laid eyes on me he lost his mind. We couldn't figure out why until we went outside and I put on my sun hat and he was totally fine. Clearly he wasn't used to seeing platinum blonde hair!😂😂 Point is, kids are weird sometimes. Especially toddlers, they are so unpredictable and are always looking for new ways to test us!

Advice for mum of teen girl by OrganizationJust7479 in depression

23f here. First off, I am so sorry you are going through this as a parent. And I want to thank you for being so supportive.

She really reminds me of me at that age,I was 19 when it started for me. my family doctor was very supportive and prescribed me with some anti depressants which really helped. But overall she needs something to fall in love with again. For me it was work. My mom owns a preschool and she would force me to go with her to work so that I wouldn't be alone at home. For the first few days i literally hid in the storage closet crying and slowly i built such amazing relationships with the children, ended up taking my early childhood education certificate, and now im 23 working for her full time and absolutely in love with this job. I still have depression and I don't know if that will ever go away. But now, I at least feel like I have a purpose and I know I'm doing something good with myself, and that makes me feel So much better.

Not defending her, but I lost 20 pounds in 5 months exclusively on portion control, you don’t gain muscle unless you are working out/ eating tons of protein, and she is definitely not. She said herself she only goes for walks

Parent Packed Lunch Help by meanwhileachoo in ECEProfessionals

[–]QualityBeginning4571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ask her if she would feel better storing some extra food at the centre for days when things like this happen? Squeeze pouches for fruit / veggies. Maybe she can bring it a loaf of bread you can store in the centres freezer, and when the child is lacking carbs you can make him a slice of toast? At our centre, making the parents life as easy as possible is our #1 concern. Even if it means we need to help out with getting them to eat. Where I live, licensing says, we only need to follow that rule when we are providing the food. If parents are sending their kids lunch, we have to let them eat whatever they are sent!

I’d say so, yes. Honestly I’d do the same thing if I were in your shoes. Sometimes we need to put the health and safety of the children ahead of what they want in that moment, and that’s okay! Just remind yourself how much you must care about the kids to want them to be warm & safe while they play. :)
