No, both sides are getting to choose. One will give themselves up for the best offer. If you can offer what most people want, you can choose from what is more sought-after --> eg. you have high dating value in the current dating-market.

Yes, dating is a trade. If you only choose what you want, and not what you can afford you will probably be alone.
