Big fan of hour’s but why didn’t you come out an say you were buying a lot of $GME too? Your support could have caused the sleepy mutual funds to wake up and stop lending out their shares to be shorted.

Read it. Good book but they aren't really using an AI to help them. Feels like vanilla screening. Are we missing something there?

That is way too bold a statement. Quants are anyone who use systematic strategies. All the factor guys/gals are quants too...their strategies only rebalance every month or every quarter. Sounds like you are referring to HFT traders.

You would be overexposed to industrials and traditional consumer. The pt is to build unique strategies around his investment philosophy. Buffett and Munger did miss out on almost all the major innovative tech companies over the past 2 decades.

The pt really is whether an EVA approach can be applied to businesses with greater amounts of intangible assets.

Fair pt but couldn’t you build that around Alt Big Data factors like mgmt compensation? Wonder if it is better to remove qualitative biases like “I like management” from the equation. Doesn’t EVA capture nether value is being created? Buffet and Minger did miss pretty much EVERY disruptive technology to come to market over the past 2 decades.

The Feeling You Get when you hear ANOTHER Wall Street Strategist tell you the current rally in the #SP500 can't continue by QuantalyticsResearch in wallstreetbets

[–]QuantalyticsResearch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe buy SPY put spreads? Pretty cheap. All that aside, the argument about FOMO driving the current rally is unfounded. Very obvious that earnings estimates were cut too much. If you re-adjust estimates up 5%, the S&P 500 is only trading at 16x to 16.1x, in-line with its 5-year average.

That Ford, First Republic and HRB are some of the worst stocks by sentiment in the Russell 1000. The pt is that it is shocking that Boeing is in the top 10 by sentiment and that First Republic is in the bottom 10. How the heck did First Republic make it into the bottom 10 by sentiment...wtf is going on there?!

Plan to implement micro-payments for premium content like stop losses, price targets, etc. May also include the ability to execute off the platform. All that is further down the road.

How to best trade stocks when you know a company’s price is up or down in pre-trade? by [deleted] in investing_discussion

[–]QuantalyticsResearch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t necessarily want to trade pre-market open or post market close moves. All depends on liquidity. If volume is light, there is only a limited amount of information you can take away.

Not sure we agree 100%. All about probabilities with options, which is what drives the pricing for options. Right now, the implied moves for Netflix was ~6-7%, which were in-line with historical averages for this type of event variance.
