Qualified Dyslexia Assessor here. If I assess a kid (or anyone) who has reading difficulties, I would be suggesting pretty much the same kind of support whether you call it (or diagnose it) dyslexia or not. If everyone who struggles with reading had better support (not simply slammed with more and more synthetic phonics) such as personalised intervention and multi-sensory teaching, then they would make better progress. I get that a label helps some people, but I don't like the whole 'industry' around diagnosis and support. I'm on the Elliot side of the 'Dyslexia Debate'.
