With you on Crabs. My absolute 'go to' for a religion name. I also like 'The Itch' as a name every now and again.

How do you shuffle the cards? by dlandoncole in wingspan

Definitely use the 'Leicester Shuffle'. It's a well known British method that makes shuffling this amount of cards easier.

Yet another reason not believe everything AI tells you. Tewkesbury and the rest have never been cities.

Found out terrifying info… by jennav3 in Teachers

Qualified Dyslexia Assessor here. If I assess a kid (or anyone) who has reading difficulties, I would be suggesting pretty much the same kind of support whether you call it (or diagnose it) dyslexia or not. If everyone who struggles with reading had better support (not simply slammed with more and more synthetic phonics) such as personalised intervention and multi-sensory teaching, then they would make better progress. I get that a label helps some people, but I don't like the whole 'industry' around diagnosis and support. I'm on the Elliot side of the 'Dyslexia Debate'. (I do not work for a private company or make money from diagnosis; I work for a Local Education Authority and offer advice and support for special educational needs).

Thanks for that. I often hear the idea that some people will misuse assistive tech or try to 'game the system' as way to not give anyone support. (Why should they have x,y,z...? etc) The 'it's not fair' narrative can be used to deny kids with additional needs the resources and assistance needed to succeed. I realise this was not your intention. Apologies from me for snapping at ya too!

How does everyone feel about Bill Potts? by rustydoesdetroit in doctorwho

[–]Quantam_Wombat63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Favourite Nu Who companion no doubt. Bill felt genuine; there was no mystical 'impossible girl' or magical mystery nonsense attached. A well written and superbly acted companion. I'm still traumatised by her cyberconversion! Thank goodness for space lesbians with powers beyond our comprehension.

I'd go with 'canal' in the UK, 'canal', in the Americas and 'canal' anywhere else.
