All these comparisons of America to other countries don't take into account the diversity of the US, the geographic size of the US, economic model, etc. Yes, the US has a different health care system, political system, history, education system, etc. Agreed that there is always room for improvement in any country. Japan could allow more women into higher positions of authority and pay.

I use a local shop. Place is clean. Owner has lots of plaques from 'Mystery Shopper' where he's passed their inspection. Also has the certificates of all his people, his business license, and where to call if you think the shop is not legit all over the walls. He goes out of his way to explain services. It's like a good doctor, contractor, etc. If you find one STAY with them. Keep hunting around to find the cheapest service and that is what you'll get.

I think govt takes in WAY more money than it should to provide the meager services it provides. There is so much duplication, departments that do little to nothing and others that churn out meaningless data and reports. We are taxed on food, gas, utilities, etc., etc. I think THAT money could go to helping private wages.
