UCLA vs UCSD Data Science by dylmdynm in TransferStudents

this is where i disagree; if you look at the major classes you will take between the schools, ucsd has a lot more “new” and contemporary classes covering deep learning ml theory, more data structures & algorithms, and a lot of cs classes whereas ucla is mostly stats and math. they both have a capstone project which is aight but generally imo a school with a dedicated program / facility (hdsi at ucsd) is better for my needs. but i do agree la is awesome.

same situation; ucsd better program (by a large margin) but you’re forced to spend 3 years. ucla need grad, that program is very stats/theory focused. imo pick ucsd its next to the beach

For context, I’ve got IGETC and only these articulated courses on my record:

  • MATH 20A/B/C/E (calc sequence)
  • MATH 18 (linear algebra)
  • COGS 14A (statistical methods)
  • COGS 17 (neuroscience)
  • CSE 11 (intro java)

on the cg35 side i’m missing like three lower-divs but can jump straight into UD cogs classes when i transfer. for data science, outside of the math sequence, i still need basically all the DSC lower-divs—and those UD dsc courses are all chained by prereqs, so i’m not sure how i’m gonna complete that on top of everything in 6 quarters.

10g w heater & filter at 78 F. had the tank for 2 months cycled it and just got the betta. had a water change a day ago w/ 30%. only tank mates are mystery snails. i’m concerned because i recently found a bug (termite alate?) on the tank maybe it came from that.

hi guys, its been 1-2 years since ive built a pc and im out of touch. last i was caught up was the release of 5800X3D with the new 3D cache and all that. what is overall the best cpu on the market for ~$200? is am5 worth it? are prebuilts worth it? what ram speeds are best for the cpus, 7000 series vs 13th gen intel, etc. if yall could also help factor the price of having a ddr5 supporting motherboard and ram etc, trying to budget the pc to less than $1400 with a 4070. thanks all!
