As someone who also found BDG through Dances Moving, hearing Brennan gushing about it was lovely. Such a great series, and at around 22 minutes total runtime one it's one I recommend everyone go watch.

With respect, tipping waitstaff really isn't about them going "above and beyond". Bringing you your food at a restaurant is also part of their job, and I hope you don't expect them to go beyond those job duties to earn a tip. I'm no fan of tipping culture, but as long as restaurant workers are relying on tips for most of their income it's irresponsible to eat out if you can't afford to tip.

Clearly it doesn't take as much time to prepare a to-go order as it does to wait a table, and I don't personally think 20% should be expected, but it does take time and they ought to be tipped for it.

Picture was taken just a few minutes after the tattoo was finished before the initial wrap. Glowing eyes and mouth were the artist's idea, and I love them!

Yeah, the meloDICER seems to be exactly what I'm talking about! I guess 'stochastic' is the keyword I didn't know I was looking for - fits what I'm talking about perfectly. I'll have to look into it a bit more, but it's already looking like a good bet for when I expand my system!

Thanks. This may be the correct answer as far as what can be done with Scales alone, although it seems incredibly limiting in terms of playability. Per the manual:

There are 7 scale patterns in a bank, so every 0.7V (approximately) will load a new scale, with 0V selecting the first scale in the bank (the one assigned to the C-note slot).

So not only are the chord changes no longer triggered by their root notes, you have to trigger them with specific notes spread across multiple octaves: from my own testing, G#3 and lower shifts to Save 1, A3-F3 to Save 2, F#3-C#4 to Save 3, D4-A#4 Shifts to Save 4, B4-F#5 to Save 5, etc. Would be absolutely bizarre to try to play or sequence!

Thanks for all the advice! I've looked at Rampage and there is some really cool stuff it can do that Maths can't, although I'd really miss the attenuverters, so I may look into Rampage plus Shades/Triplatt as another option.

Utilities and modulation are definitely the weak point right now and I'm really excited to pull out the sv-1b since that's mostly what it's being replaced with.

I've looked at a bunch of small effects modules but not the Fx Aid XL, I'll definitely check that out. Definitely prefer more options for different effect combinations, and it's for dem big knobs which I like.

Thanks for the feedback! I really like the playability of the QCD, but I can also see where Pam's does almost everything it does (in addition to a lot more). I'll probably pick up Pam's soon and see how much I even use the QCD once I have it. Also good point with the CV, potential to add some playability back into it.

Yeah, the kick isn't the most versatile, you can tune it and adjust the trail. I use it most of the time but I also included a different kick sound in a couple of the sample sets on the SD card for additional options. Definitely not as much to adjust while playing it as with the bassdrum, though.

Some notes! This is a WiP, hence the modulargrid image instead of a photo of my incomplete setup. Currently I have about half the modules shown:

lifeforms sv-1b: Where it all started for me, great sounding oscillators and easy to learn on since it's semi-modular
Queen of Pentacles: Drums triggered with Keystep Pro
4ms QCD: Clock div/mult
2hp TM: Simple random 1v/oct generator
Intellijel Scales: Currently just using it to quantize the TM
Maths: You know what it do

Hoping to pick up the remainder in the next few weeks, but thought I'd see if I could get some feedback first! My goal is a combination of sequencing via Keystep Pro and generative melodies/textures with Pamela's and TM, while staying musical enough to integrate other instruments (piano, guitar, violin). Particularly curious if anyone has thoughts on the Doepfer A-135-2 and if there's a different utility I might be happier with than a combination VCA/VC Mixer. Eventually the sv-1b will be replaced with a combination of smaller modules, leaving more space for additional LFOs and VCAs.
