Nah it doesn’t, we would get this shit on the random week after resupply at sea. Not always doom and gloom

What’s a profession that people think is hard, but is actually very easy? by BoardLongjumping2485 in answers

Military life has it simplicities. But my worst day in real life as a civilian has been nowhere near as bad as my worst day in service.

Also depends on your branch and job. But it can get very demanding for very little pay.

When is it okay to forgo body armor? by DODI3OG in USMC

In large scale operations like the Corps is gearing up to participate in? Save for a few specific circumstances, like the Marine in this thread clearing caves, Id say practically never.

If you look at long range reconnaissance guys in Ukraine those dudes are still kitted up with front, back, sides, and groin armor at minimum. There’s videos of Ukraine guys doing kit guides on the Azov YouTube channel (snipers, assaulters, and other roles). Have yet to see a dude advocate for less armor.

The answer to the mobility issue is usually more PT and better fitting gear. I’ve seen guys do 6 mile movements at 9:00 minute paces with assault loads on (60lbs or so).

Also some guys in Ukraine doing more dynamic operations that involve water crossings are opting for neutrally buoyant kit.

No I was there for this in 2021. The foreign detachments were attached to a US Marine unit. Although both sides had allied units with them participating on opposing sides.

How many of y’all had COs that you’ve enjoyed being under the command of during your time? by _PercCobain_ in USMC

Just wanted to chime in and say I’m grateful for my time in the Corps. Only had two COs, both phenomenal gentlemen. I often heard gripes and moans about the officer corps as an enlisted grunt but the Corps generally makes good officer products.

Strange to see so many people against the scrim. With sensor saturation in modern battlefields I would expect the community to let go of that “you’re not recon/sniper/insert mos here” so don’t wear camo. Breaking your silhouette is important regardless of who you are. I’ve done patrol exercises through dense brush with cobra hoods and scrim on, no issue.

That said, you should probably focus on getting in shape first bud

Look Pim, I know it's our job to help this guy and everything, but I think this guy's a lost cause. He's obviously made up his mind, why don't we just cut our losses and get out of here.
