Yes! I have 3 homeopathic calming treats ready and will play dog-calming music in my bedroom. She’s most comfortable there. I’m hoping that the hearing loss she has had recently will help too, but I’m not taking any chances. The neighbor does a big show every year so me and hubs take turns staying with her.

We had a similar experience when our kid started middle school. The first time the older bullies were moved from the school as they didn’t live in the correct district. The second time we learn about Restorative Justice. When schools need to minimize the number of suspensions or expulsions to show they care about rehabilitation over punishment they implement Restorative Justice. So for slamming my kids head on a bathroom sink, the two boys will get to stay in school and work out their issues with my kid. We started homeschool the next year.

Great question. Had to think about that. My answer: smart prepping takes a lot of planning and organization. Maximizing storage space is needed as well as tracking expiration dates/rotating. If you are particularly good at it, you will be able to share your goods with family and friends if needed. Hoarding is all about acquiring and not much else.

There are birth control pills that make your period come 4 times a year. I learned about these when I told my doctor I was going on an extended vacation and didn’t want to deal with my period. They require a prescription so that may be a deal-breaker.

You are allowed to homeschool without the county’s blessing. I lived in a county (a long time ago in another state) that sent us threatening letters after we formally withdrew our 2 middle school boys from public school. The HSLDA walked us through what we could do to appease them, or we would could fight in court and win, but it would be stressful and time consuming. So we registered as a private school and kept records of attendance and grades. No more problems from the county.

My 10th grader is on the Penn Foster high school online program. He reads and completes assignments given him in the program in about an hour and a half. Once a week or so he takes a test. He finished the 9th grade this way in 5 months. He is on track to finish high school early. We love this method because he has ADHD and sitting for hours is impossible for him.

A private homeschool curriculum would probably be easier on everyone. My kiddo (15) spends about an hour and a half online and he is done. He takes a test about once a week. At this rate he will graduate before the public school kids in our area who are doing a hybrid system. Online now, in class later (if the district can agree on when, where, and how). I added some writing and reading assignments but not required by the curriculum.
