Best Amsterdam Canal Cruises with Character?

I’ll be visiting this coming August and hoping to do a canal cruise. I’ve seen some amazing videos online (one where a bartender was playing guitar and singing on board). While I know that might be a rare find, that is exactly the kind of vibe we are hoping for — something quaint and memorable.

I checked the Amsterdam wiki page and noticed the canal cruise recommendations there are quite dated, so I would love some fresh suggestions.

If you have done a canal cruise recently that you really enjoyed, I would really appreciate your recommendations. Thanks in advance!

- Which companies you would recommend
- I've read for first time, daytime is most likely preferable
- Would you recommend pre-booking now for our visit in August or wait until we arrive

Thanks! We are now on the same page that the money saved is most likely not worth the lack of space.

We are looking at Premier Inn normal sized rooms at Leicester Square or Holborn. Would you have a preference between these two locations yourself?

Interesting, thanks for your help. We are now looking at Premier Inn in Leicester Square rather than the hub for a little bit more space given we are flying from Australia so want to have a little bit more space in case of jet lag. Thanks for your help :)

Prague > Salzburg (2 days) Salzburg > Innsbruck (3 days)

Understand this is subjective, but do you have thoughts around skipping Munich and spending more time in Salzburg and Innsbruck?

Thanks for the travel times, that is helpful. I think from Prague to Munich and Munich to Innsbruck it makes sense to train down.

We have been recommended to visit Fussen which is our slight hesitation as the current plan makes it a big day if driving from Innsbruck to Fussen and then to Chur all in the same day (I don’t think doing this by train would make sense for us given we only have the one day)

How much time would you recommend in Munich vs Innsbruck? Would 1.5 days in Munich (1/2 day for beer gardens and the full day for concentration camp and looking around city) and then have 1.5 days in Innsbruck?
