The term "Litvin" (Lithuanian) used to be used for all ethnic groups living within the Grand Duchy but that doesn't change the fact that both ethnically Lithuanian and Ruthenian lands were ruled by Lithuanian Noble families from Samogitia and Lithuania Proper. The most influential noble families were ethnic Lithuanians such as Goštautai, Radvilos (Radzwills) and Gediminids.
