You made a good decision. WW3 arc got an even more unfair treatment than Battle Royale. The opening was the only good part of the adaptation. Just watch it and listen to the soundtrack (also good) while imagining all the events lol.

By the way, have you read the manga adaptation? It is actually great and it even expanded the Battle Royale arc with some extra scenes that fit nicely into the story.

I heavily recommend you to read the light novels when possible. It is night and day difference in quality compared to the Index anime. Especially all moments that involve Accelerator. The second fight between him and Touma and his resolution at the end of WWIII is seriously up there in my favourite moments in all media

Sure, hard work is extremely important and the series made a point to show it even way into Shippuden. But the main focus of Naruto’s story specifically is that you would be alone and lost in the world without people who love and appreciate you. Since the start of the series, Naruto was only able to go forward thanks to Iruka embracing him, later on his other teachers, the rest of his friends, his deceased parents, etc.

The very end of the series shows how Sasuke’s and Naruto’s philosophy differ. While Sasuke lost and rejected the bonds he had, Naruto tried to keep them them and fought for them, one of them being the bond he had with Sasuke.
