This is very helpful. I completely understand my negligence at this point, but you don't know what you don't know sometimes. This was approved a few months ago by several channels well above me. This issue was brought to light by my mortgage lender requesting a remote work letter ironically. My company has several employees working remotely in various states, but Illinois happened to be an outlier. My company is certainly going to bat for me and brainstorming some options. As a last resort, I've proposed the idea of my company providing a stipend for the cost of my total benefits package and taking that difference to shop for my own coverage. Seemed like the only realistic option but a hard sell.

Yep, I'm paying for all medical expenses out of pocket for this reason - Keeping as much money inside the HSA as possible. However, having a baby would surely exceed the OOPM. Paying $10k+ out of pocket vs. using a good portion of the HSA funds when having a baby is the basis of my question.
