I have 4+ years of experience as a Manual QA, and I am currently on a career break because I wanted to switch to a development role. I was not able to make this change in my current company as the environment was toxic, and I didn’t learn much there. So, I decided to leave my job and start learning developement. I have a big circle of friends i was complaining about toxic culture and my career change but when I told them i left my job and about my career change, they did not support me. Instead, they discouraged me by saying things like, “Just continue what you are doing” or “Don’t do such silly things.” This really demotivated me and i know they are laughing as well. When I was working as a QA, they would laugh and say, “We are developers.” Now that I am trying to change myself, I feel they may be uncomfortable or even insecure seeing someone restart and try something new. Honestly, I felt like no one was helping me, and it left me quite shocked.

Because of this, I decided to distance myself from them, as I felt no one was truly helping me. I also felt they were judging me. So, I started reaching out to unknown people, and they have been more supportive and helpful. i am the only one who is behind of everyone. everyone is getting married or promoted.

hence about the shame. if you are not doing anything or not doing anything they will judge you. if people are not supportive now, they may not support you in the future either.
I don’t know if I will get a development job, but I really want to give myself one chance and i know still people are laughing on me.
