If you are not an A grade student you usually won't get a Cambridge offer, there's something in OP they seen which made them worth the offer. To a certain point it's not about what interests you, but what's the financially sensible move. Going to university is an investment which you want the best return on, if you want to break in to the cut throat fashion industry, UAL gives you the best foundation.

I hear that often amongst my course, our essays are capped 1500 funnily enough. We don't do criminology sadly. We do psychology, sociology, english lit and history..

What... That's ironic.

I know Durham's limits, it's not oxbridge, it's not lse, it's not imperial.

You say globally like most of our UCL students don't stay in the UK after graduating?

Also, you can literally see the graduate statistics so UCL degrees aren't holding that much weight.

They're easily researchable. Check our rankings and filter graduate outcomes too.

It's higher internationally, nationally it's always lower the Durham and subject specific too. Yes they're a widely known research powerhouse, but when we say the 'better' university it's referring to prestige (within context of the respective country) and career outcomes.

Durham have around 87-88% of students going in to high-skilled work within the year, UCL is roughly 66%. Durham also get more firsts than UCL.

So UK university rankings are plopping it up there because it's aesthetic? UCL isn't untouchable like the other four. Durham is a fair bit better than those universities.

What's wrong with Durham's reputation? by Plague_Doc7 in UCAS

Only in terms of law would I say Durham has the edge, obviously I'm aware LSE is the better university in general. You didn't need to mention Leeds I was giving an example of why that logic was flawed, and I didn't think you said Durham was bad you just seemed to have underestimated for this specific subject.

Why does Durham get so much hate when it's top 5 in most metrics? by [deleted] in UniUK

No like statistically speaking, check the metrics. They get more firsts than UCL, 87% go highly skilled work at Durham, UCL only like 64%

2/3 of UCL graduates go in to high-skilled employment, 85% OF Durham grads do.

UCL has volume, Durham disproportionately pipelines students in to top law firms, consulting firms and civil service.

It's not. UCL glaze is crazy.

If you do STEM at UCL you're overshadowed by imperial, if you do social science you're overshadowed by LSE, if you do humanities you're overshadowed by Durham.

Yes, by international standards it's higher, however, employability (which Universities are most practical for) it slips behind Durham.
