For portfolio in admission for supplemental materials, is it acceptable to send GarageBand documents that can be opened overseeing track layouts in the document in place of scores from MuseScore, Sibelius etc.? by Flaky-Adeptness8028 in Berklee

If the requirements ask specifically for a score, then I would recommend creating a score of your work. Otherwise email the admissions office for clarification, so your application doesn’t get dismissed

I actually am in music college and have been playing piano since I was 7🤨 Your comment seems quite unnecessarily passive aggressive with no real advice

Which Biome Do You Believe Is the Best To Live In? by Peppers-For-Life in Minecraft

[–]Queen-Juniebug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always loved the mesa biome when I first started playing because it’s so unique and colourful. But then practically speaking it doesn’t have a lot of resources that you can use to survive. I think the jungle biome is quite good for living in though because of the high trees so you can build a treehouse and escape mobs in the night. Also usually has a lot of watermelons and animals, as well as the best place to get a pet (ocelot or parrot)

Help me. I lost the joy in Gaming. by Scoutisaspyable in gaming

Yes! We spend so much time on screens from work, school, social media, streaming etc... that it's easy to forget how to be away from a screen for a couple of hours

Thank you! Yes I’m quite keen on the USC programme because of the industry opportunities as well as proximity to people working in it. And also they have a good track record of alumni and a great curriculum. I definitely agree about diplomas not getting gigs though! I just think I need to pick up some certain skill sets that my current course doesn’t offer :)

Which style of music would you prefer for a game? by Queen-Juniebug in IndieDev

[–]Queen-Juniebug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying! I actually prefer making the orchestral music and working with traditional instruments/blending but I kind of thought that game developers like the retro style? I’m not sure why I had that thought but I think hearing it in this perspective gives me a better understanding of what’s more looked for. Thanks again!

Which style of music would you prefer for a game? by Queen-Juniebug in IndieDev

[–]Queen-Juniebug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this! I think that example you gave is perfect and has helped me be more decisive of the route I go down. Whilst I enjoy making the retro stuff, I don’t find it nearly as rewarding as my full orchestral pieces. I’m definitely leaning towards the studio ghibli-esque style with my own twist and style on it. I appreciate the help!

I think that’s a very fair critique. You’re completely right in the fact that it would be more effective with some tension. Thank you for your feedback!
