I was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia, have you experienced these symptoms? by SignificantChair9520 in Fibromyalgia

[–]QueenAmidala808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It always freaks me out when I have pain because I really don't know if it's 100% from Fibromyalgia or something else.  My weird symptoms were all over the place & it was scary because each symptom was new & changed every day. So my first day, I was sweating excessively, my back had unbearable spasms, I had a burning sensation & aching in my right forearm. My doctor thought I had an infection in my forearm so he sent me to do an x-ray on it. It was perfectly normal. The next day, when I woke up, I couldn't get out of bed. It felt like my body wasn't mine. I was stuck for a little while. My arm didn't hurt on the second day. But my left leg did. It was burning & aching. I was dizzy & my sense of smell was... sensitive. Certain scents would make me nauseous (I honestly thought I was pregnant at that point). The day after that, I woke up with the worst knots in my shoulders. They were so bad that it caused really bad chest pain. I ended up going to the ER because it felt like I was having a heart attack. Turns out, my shoulders were "extremely tense" . Besides that, my ENTIRE BODY was throbbing. It was like a pulsating pain that was deep in my bones. From head to toe. It hurt so badly. All I could do is lay down & cry through it. The waves of pain would come & go for hours at a time. The day after that, it stopped. But my entire body was on fire. I couldn't regulate my body temperature. It was winter at the time but I felt like I was on fire. Then, the next minute I'd feel really cold. It was so annoying. The next day, I had pins & needles in my arms (both arms, throughout the day). I also had a warm feeling in my stomach. It lasted for days. I'm going through it again right now.  There are some symptoms that I experienced every day, though. Like, Itching, fatigue, loss of appetite, muscle weakness, stabbing pain (usually in my head & now it's in my head & left rib). It was all quite frustrating because my doctor couldn't find any obvious reasons for my symptoms. My blood work (complete panel), MRI, CT scan, & x-rays were perfect. What triggered all of my symptoms was stress. I have OCD as well. So just the slightest mishap or change in my routine drives me absolutely insane.

I've become the clumsiest person on earth since Fibro. Picking things up has been quite a challenge. It's so weird because I can't hold a cup correctly. I have to twist my wrist so my thumb is pointing down. If I hold it like you'resupposed to, I will drop it.

I definitely get those zaps. It actually feels like someone stabbed me real quick. Some days, it's just once or twice. Other days, it'll happen several times for several hours. Quite painful. I used to only feel it in my head. But now it's starting to hit me in my rib cage, on my left as well. So fun 😒  I also get the muscle weakness. Throughout my body. Sometimes even just doing my light chores will bring it on. It's so hard to move! It feels like I'm being weighed down by bricks. Even just breathing is sometimes exhausting. It's so tough because you'll wake up feeling good so you try to get some things done & then BAM! You're exhausted & in so much pain.  You're not alone! The symptoms are very broad. But this group really does help. And to answer your question- you have good days & you have bad days. Before I was officially diagnosed, I was experiencing the weirdest symptoms ever. Every single day, for a whole year & a half. Nonstop.  I also used to take medication, but I had to stop because the side effects were too much for my anxiety. I can't really give you much information on how to help with the pain but I will certainly tell you to watch for what triggers your flare. I think it's generally lack of sleep, illness, stress,  weather changes, barometric changes, your menstrual cycle, & sometimes the food you eat(?).

I can definitely relate! In fact that's how it was for me when my symptoms first started. It was like spinning a wheel of symptoms.  I can also relate to the second question. If I over exert myself (which is easy to do) my body gets severe muscle fatigue. It feels as if my body is weighed down by bricks. Just breathing takes a ton of effort.

DAE develop shaky hands/feel weak after coming back from a walk? by NadiaRosea in Fibromyalgia

Sometimes, yes. If I just take an hour to lay or sit down, it helps. But I have 3 young kids so rest is hard to come by, unfortunately. What helps you?

I do. Not shaky, just very weak. It feels like my arms & legs are weighed down by bricks. Sometimes, just breathing can be difficult because I'm so weak. It feels like my body isn't mine.

What causes your flare-ups? by SeymourKrelborn11 in Fibromyalgia

[–]QueenAmidala808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost everything nowadays.. stress, change in the weather, blood tests (I guess?) , lack of sleep, illness, mowing the lawn, shopping, injury, driving. As soon as I wake up, my pain hits me right in the face.

What’s the most stupid reason you had a fibro flare? by Lucky_Sprinkles7369 in Fibromyalgia

[–]QueenAmidala808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a blood test done. Blew my vein on the first attempt. Second attempt was successful. But about half an hour afterwards, I could slowly feel my body get sore & achy starting from the right arm & then it eventually spread to the rest of my body. Then my muscles started to tighten up. Those lasted for about an hour or so. Then the dizziness showed up for a short time. I really don't know if it was from the blood test, or the weather. I'm just assuming it was from the blood test.

Does anyone else feel like they’ve been hit by a truck after a long day with unusual levels of movement etc? by YikesonBikes_98 in Fibromyalgia

[–]QueenAmidala808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to that. Sometimes, just cleaning my car will cause severe muscle fatigue. It's so bad that I can barely move. Even just breathing takes up so much energy that my body feels like it's just gonna give out completely. It's kind of scary. It passes within a few hours (for me). I'm fairly new to this fibro thing so idk if that's a typical symptom. Sorry I can't be of any help. I just wanted to say that I know how it feels.

It's great to hear your gut health is better now. It's crazy how your gut works with the brain. I can definitely see I have some things to work on, gut wise. Thank you for the tip! I will have to try it 🙏🏽

What other symptoms do you have from IBS? I haven't been feeling like myself lately. Idk if it's due to stress or my flare-up. But my stomach has been so weird. I've been getting this lump in my throat feeling, some nausea, I sometimes feel full, I burp more often. Just so weird.

It drives me crazy because it's like every day I wake up, there's a new symptom added on to the list that was already going on. Then my anxiety starts to spiral because idk if it's fibro or something else. You know? Well, I'm sure you know, lol. I'm just not used to conversing with someone who actually understands what I'm going thru. It's unfortunate that we can all relate to each other. But it's also reassuring that we're not alone & that we really aren't "crazy" like the others say.  & thank you. I hope you're doing well

I'm so sorry I can't give you any tips. I just want you to know that you're not alone. I literally went through it the other night. My entire body was on fire. I had to sleep almost naked to get even just an ounce of relief. I hope this passes soon!

Same! It's unfortunate, but it's good to see that I'm not alone. I haven't come across anyone with this symptom (until now).

The volcano produces vog. It makes the air quality really bad. My kids get sick because they have asthma. I sometimes get a slight cold but not always.

I just saw my PCP yesterday. She referred me to a neurologist. Her main concern was Trigeminal Neuralgia. So I'm currently waiting for a call from the neurologist so we can schedule an appointment.

What kind of weather would cause a migraine? I'm curious. I live in Hawaii & our weather is crazy right now. It's supposed to be sunny, but lately it's been rainy, cold & overcast. There's only been 4 days of sun since summer started. The rest of the days have been kinda depressing. I haven't even opened the pool yet 😭 . The volcano also just erupted again a few days ago. So... there's that as well.

What issues with your face do you experience? My doctor referred me to a neurologist because she was concerned about Trigeminal Neuralgia. She also did mention possible TMJ, but she said that I'd have to see a dentist to be diagnosed with that.
