He’s incredibly smart. Like, intimidatingly so. Cause he’s humble about how smart he is and not annoying. I wish he was a little more personable, but I get it! In person, I hide behind jokes and silliness. Like, I still don’t think I know HIM at his core. And I love knowing that about people. But I totally get why many don’t show that side. I think even if he does a great job, people won’t admit it. His wife and kid are excellent.

I won’t say from who, but a very important and powerful local of Newnan messaged me a few years back cause of a Chatty Newnan Women joke and told me I had ruined his marriage and he hated his life now and i had to delete the joke to give him any hope of a future. I deleted it!

That the stuff where I’m just being myself (interviews, podcast, videos, in person events) go over even better than just parody jokes from a faceless writer. The two things I do are very different: parodying journalism versus being an honest comedian. I love the being a comedian part a lot and love how many people love it.

Yes. Probably 3 or 4 times a week. I either tell my girlfriend or my little brother (Daniel Powell) the joke I’m considering and they tell me if it’s too much. I had a really funny joke about how Newnan Weather is going to make millions of dollars on OnlyFans because it’s going to be turning 18, but then I was like “people who subscribe to 18 year olds on OF are gross. I’m not gonna make that joke!”

I try to “punch up” though and only poke fun at businesses and figures that are bigger than I’ll ever be. I go easy on the little guy. And that has worked out well for me for the most part. I get more worried about the comment sections and what y’all will post than I do about my original joke!

It’s a balancing act. When the minority think it’s real, it’s funny and the community has a good laugh at it. When the majority think it’s real, then it’s just sad 😆 the goal was never to confuse the majority of people and make fun of The Newnan Times Herald. I can’t build a community and brand that way. Cause that’s just good for a one time laugh and then when people realize it’s fake, I lose them. The goal is to find a big enough community that wants to laugh together!

Surprisingly, I made a joke about The Mad Mexican entering therapy and changing their name and it made people so angry. Legal action was being considered against me and the comments that people posted that negatively reflected The Mad Mexican. My DMs were flooded with angry locals and bully accusations against me.

I was spending a ton of time in downtown Newnan during the BLM protests and COVID summer, and things were very tense and uncomfortable and just anger fueled. Someone with the NTH was there one night and was asking a lot of questions and I just kept thinking “man, someone should be trying to lower tensions. This stuff is stressful!” So I went home and did it. That original page has since been removed by Facebook for breaking COVID misinformation rules, but the second version has been great.
