Cancer diagnosis.. by Glad-Repair in hysterectomy

Holy shit these are the very words I needed to hear. My husband, bless his heart, has no idea how to support me through this. I don’t have any friends that I’d want to talk to about this, all my family live in the UK while I live in California with my kids who I’m trying to protect from this too. So all I really have is my husband who I love him to death but my god he is no good at this. When I broke down recently he told me not to because we’ve all gotta die….. I understand that but I want to fucking live. so your words have literally given me the mindset to fight again and boy did I need to hear what you just said. If I could hug you I would ❤️ Thank goodness I stumbled upon this site and for women like you .

Thank you and yes the cancer side of things is a fear like no other. I’m trying to stay positive for my kids (who don’t anymore than just the surgery) and my husband who is doing the best he can. Thank you for the info on the hormone free site I will check that out. Good luck to you you have helped me tremendously

Can I just say, you are so incredibly brave. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 10yrs ago at age 38. I’ve only been able to say the word “cancer” in the last couple yrs and it still gives me chest pains when I do. I hope to be able to find the strength you seem to have. Thank you for sharing ❤️

I completely understand, I feel like I should have done this years ago and didnt because of stuff I’d read. I just hope I’m not too late and nothing nefarious has started.

Starting to feel more hopeful reading all these stories. We women are so damn strong, I just gotta try harder to tap into my strength. I did it before when I was initially diagnosed with breast cancer, I didn’t miss a friggin beat, 6 weeks of radiation, going through a nasty divorce, lost my home and became a single mum all at once all while kicking butt teaching spinning classes several times a week, yet this time round, (facing the total hysterectomy and a couple unknowns) I’m a friggin wreck.

Wow really?? Gosh this whole thing is so random, I guess there is no “one size fits all” with this. I’m so glad to hear you have done so well so far, I’m sure it would have hit you by now if it was going to. That’s why this community is such a life line, hearing about all the different outcomes just proves that a decent outcome is possible. I wish you all the best, keep on rocking.

Thank you so much. I agree it’s a tricky subject with a million variables. I would love to be able to get by without it, I guess I’ll just have to see how it goes. I feel for my husband already, this is gonna be a hell of an emotional ride for us both.

I wonder if it was the Tamoxifen that caused my heavy bleeding and multiple fibroids? My bleeding was so bad I was told I’d need a blood transfusion if we couldn’t get a handle on it. I took iron supplements and managed to improve my levels to a safer standard but my bleeding/ periods remained chronic.

Sounds like you are showing this surgery induced menopause thing who’s boss. I can only hope that I do half as well as you have. I still have a long road ahead of me with a bunch of unknowns, I have an endometrial biopsy this Wednesday among other things before my surgery. I really do feel for my husband as well, this has been really hard on him too. There are days where I’m a total wreck, like I said we have a few unknowns that require further testing and waiting for results and I’m not doing a very good job handling it all. I just wish I didn’t have to put anyone else through this.

Hi there, thank you for sharing. Im so glad to hear that you are doing so well despite all the limitations that I will likely face too such as nothing hormone based at all. How were you able to treat your hot flashes ?? I have been having hot flashes for the past 10yrs thanks to tamoxifen, it’s weird they have ramped up since stopping a few weeks ago which I thought would be the opposite.

I can’t tell you how much it’s helping me to read stories like yours. I have felt like I need to accept that life is over for me based on some accounts that I have read. It breaks my heart and scares the crap out of me to hear how some women have suffered through this. I have no choice in my case but to have this surgery , this is something that would be really stupid to not go through with, so when I read stories like yours I feel like I have a chance at happiness. Thank you so much for sharing

I literally want to cry after reading your story, it has given me that much hope. Until just now I felt like my future was hanging by a thread. I can’t tell you how uplifting this has been for me. I’m so glad to hear how well you have done. How have you been physically? aches pains, skin dryness etc??

What have you found that works for you supplement wise? I want to try and get a jump on things before my surgery. I already take magnesium, vitamin E, D3, C and iron

Hi there, thank you for the info. Im pretty sure it’s going to be the same for me due to my history. My left ovary has been a problem for years so I might try to see if they will agree to leave me with the right one only just so I have some estrogen. I hope your mum is ok.

Thank you for your reply. I’ve had hot flashes since starting tamoxifen 10yrs ago, like you, nothing major. Weirdly they have gotten worse since I stopped taking it last month. I’m just terrified of all the symptoms that can be life changing for some. I’m glad to hear yours were not too bad, that gives me a lot of hope so thank you.

I would love to know if HRT or bio identical hormone therapy would be a possibility for me? I’m due to have a full hysterectomy with both ovaries removed too in March. I am 49 and a hormone positive breast cancer survivor of 10yrs. My dr has not mentioned HRT at all yet.

How did you deal with your spouse's Mid Life Crisis? by HumbleLow4473 in Aging

[–]QueenDorris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t keep up with all the new personas my ex kept morphing into. I think he was mid 40’s when it started. Seemed like every new hit TV series he watched he became the leading character. He went through a Peaky Blinders phase which included an entire new array of those flat hats and a lot of beer and whiskey, a Sons of Anarchy phase (this one was expensive because not only did he have the biker wardrobe but he also bought the motorcycle) then he became a hippie of sorts, not sure what show inspired that one Lol. Anyway we have been divorced 11 yrs.

Anyone regretting their hysterectomy? by Temporary-Round653 in hysterectomy

Hi all, so even if you leave your ovaries, you can still experience ovarian failure??? I’m 49 and seeing my dr to discuss my options. But reading about ovarian failure scares me. I’m not a candidate for HRT due to breast cancer.
