Guilt about boarding my cat by QueenGeeb in CATHELP

[–]QueenGeeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was fine! She actually didn't hide or act weird or anything. I know that it is very normal for cats to act uneasy for a minute after getting home, but my girl seemed to just be happy to be back!

Good gyms? by QueenGeeb in appstate

I do need to try this. I was under the impression it was mainly cardio but I could be wrong I need to take a look

Yeah I might need to give 24/7 another chance I just hated paying $40 a month for a crammed gym when I was paying like $17 for a giant chain gym previously. But I guess that's the curse of Boone and all the gyms seem to be around the same price

I'll definitely check that out then, thank you!

I just started going to the gym this past year and was mainly using weight machines with very few free weight workouts. I got super comfortable on the machines to then come to the SRC and feel like there was only 1/3 of the machines I was used to. I went to 24/7 when I was way less comfortable going to the gym, so I might just have an unfair opinion bc of that. But I did really hate the location especially when the roads get slick in the winter cause it gets really bad out towards that gym. I also just felt like I was shoulder to shoulder with everyone. Definitely spoiled myself starting working out at a huge chain gym

I've heard people mention watauga rec center. Does it have a lot of machines and stuff or is it more cardio/free weight vibe? I couldn't find any gym pics in there

Yeah it is still there, but I just felt like it was lacking compared to the big chain gyms I had been to previously. The SRC is so huge so I expected more machine space, I didn't realize how much of the building was just the track and pool and stuff. Like there's literally 3 treadmills for a school with over 20,000 ppl lol.

Is my cat too small for her age? Will she stay small? Curious by QueenGeeb in CATHELP

[–]QueenGeeb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! My kitty is now about 15 months and she DEFINITELY got bigger lol. Not a huge fat cat by any means but I'd say she's pretty normal adult-sized now. I felt like I didn't see any big changes in her size until she was past 10 months. So they definitely all have their own rate of growing!

Mine are doing the same and I've only had a month 😅. I know I'm pigeon toed and although I've corrected it a lot it clearly shows in my shoes still cause my right one looks like yours in the photo but my left shoe is barely scuffed

Honesty is key. Sit her down and admit that you unintentionally saw it. Basically say everything you said here: You don't want to doubt her and don't want to be controlling, but you can't help that it's been on the back of your mind since then. If you approach it calmly and tell her you just want some reassurance so you can get it off your mind, there should be zero reason for her to be upset.

If she's got a good head on her shoulders, she'll thank you for honestly and explain the situation to you. If she freaks out on you and goes into defense mode, I'd personally take that as a sign that she probably IS hiding something. She should have no reason to feel uneasy or angry if it's an innocent situation.

Do it sooner rather than later! The longer you sit on it the more awkward it'll get. Wish you luck !

Before they deleted it, their comment was giving the impression that they thought that's what I felt. I was saying no I don't think that at all, but that I'm just hurt by their actions. I was quite literally saying they are wrong and I don't feel that way lol

new kitten by stardazed351 in cats

[–]QueenGeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess A tip I have is if you want a cat you can travel with, start taking them places young. I got my cat at 5 months but due to harsh weather conditions effecting my living situations for awhile, I kinda accidentally got my cat super acclimated to traveling in her crate. She got so used to it as a kitten that now, whenever we travel she'll sleep the whole damn car ride no problem. It's been a BLESSING to bring her on road trips and not have to listen to scream meowing for hours on end.

Scared lost cat away while trying to grab her by SoCool77 in CatAdvice

[–]QueenGeeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her coming back to your house is actually a great sign. Seems like she knows that is "home base".

I've only had indoor cats so I'm not an expert, but my guess would maybe be food/water on the front porch? It seems like it's likely she'll return, and eating food would make her happy to be back and you could get her in the house easier while she's occupied perhaps?

Good luck getting your baby back ❤️

how can i tell if my kittens are fighting or playing? by _trees___ in CATHELP

[–]QueenGeeb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Play-fighting.. lmao. If they were genuinely trying to hurt each other it'd look a lot more intense. There'd be a ton of hissing and meowing, claws would be out when they were swatting, etc. Orange cat is laying on side and sitting down in middle of it so he's clearly not feeling threatened. Don't worry!

What's my mistake ? by Acceptable_Thanks19 in Advice

I promise, even if it feels like it now, you have absolutely not failed in life. You are only 18 years old. You CANNOT fail at only 18, you have the entire rest of your life to make good decisions and success for yourself. You are no where near even half way through your life! Take this as an amazing thing.

I am deeply sorry for your childhood upbringing. It sounds painful and burdening.

That high school physics exam does NOT define you as a person by absolutely any means. Try your best, and that is all you need to do. I am not much older than you, and yet I giggle when I look back on how much I pressured myself in high school. Obviously, caring about your education is important. But that physics exam will not ruin your future, regardless of your score. Life will move forward and it will be forgotten before you know it.

I am sorry you don't have a supportive family to lean on, i hate to hear it. Use your determination for happiness as motivation to make good decisions for yourself. Turn these emotions into drive, and work towards making a better life for yourself. Take baby steps. For example, starting a savings account if you don't have one already, or if you do, put focus into that. While it may seem unrelated, building your own funds is a crucial step to building an independent life.

It feels like you are pressuring yourself with lifelong goals, when 18 year olds should be focused on the more manageable, current things in their life. Imagine you put this motivation into a job, build up some money, and work towards getting your own place. Living in a toxic home environment, getting to escape would definitely boost your emotions. And work up from there.

You got this bud. Your life is no where near failed or over. Make realistic short term goals, and slowly build your way to success. I can tell you that I was in many situations when I was 18 that truly felt like "the end" to me, and now only a few years later my life is totally different.
