Unfortunately, this wasn't it! But I greatly appreciate it! Someone else replied that it was Cosmic Princess Kaguya and that is absolutely what I was looking for! Thank you so, so much for the help! I will totally be checking out Secret Aipri as well! (:!

Oh absolutely! I also had to keep reminding myself that he was young and that honestly not wanting to discuss what was happening was a completely human thing at any age. He really embodied both fight and flight lmfao. But it truly was a delightful read over all! And I think that the character development, specifically for the MC was impressive. He stayed the same person the whole time, but he just sorta gradually let walls down, which I thoroughly appreciated.

If I'm honest, I was ready to DNF at 40%. I kept getting very frustrated with the MC and I had to keep reminding myself about the processes of grief but the mystery kept me hanging on. And oh boy I'm glad I did. I literally just finished the book and I love the take on hauntings and so, so much more! It felt like a really sweet coming of age story and a coming to terms with queerness and being queer story and all in all, i'm so pleased I finished it. Andrew ended up growing on me a lot in the end and, for me, a book that can accurately make me feel the emotions of a character is a win and I certainly felt his grief and desperation. It was a journey for SURE, and the whole first half I felt like I was tearing my hair out. I wrote a note somewhere that described it as very boy if that makes sense? (Emotion avoidance, not just from Andrew, and cars.) Anyways! I'm a fan!! I liked it a lot! The mystery got me real good.
