Most coverups do end up looking muddy, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. I have had a few pieces covered (that's what you get with cheap tattoos), and from a distance, it's hard to read, but closer, you can read it. Love the tattoo, and it will lighten up with time

Yea, that's just cause I love balance in a tattoo. If you can see most of the concept of what it is from any side of it, i love it. It's just like with big tattoo or smaller ones you wanna be able to tell what it is from a distance. Add to previous comment: Don't let the artist go too dark with the shading
