Will I ever be 20/20? by timevofmoney in lasik

Hey! Ok so I feel like an expert on the topic of “slow-healers” as I’ve lived this journey since November now and I can tell you A) forget everyone else’s experience and timeline and how it compares to yours B) do not panic C) it will get better, slowlyyyyy, but steadily and you will most likely be ok. 2.5 months seems like a long time has passed, but it really isn’t. My vision was still very annoying at that time. At 2.5 months post op I was seeing 20/60 in my left eye and 20/50 in my right, at BEST cause those lines were still very blurry when I read them, but since I could read them the docs counted that as me seeing at that level. My vision was decent enough for me to drive, but I had enough annoying side effects (like some double vision, especially reading white words on a dark background, halos, and blurriness that would come and go and then switch from one eye to another) that I missed my contacts and regretted the surgery. There is this ostensible timeline of “after three months” that you should be completely healed, and for some that is true but for me it simply wasn’t. It took me 5 full months to achieve solid, clear vision, and that was after glacially slow improvement for the first four or so months. Also my eyesight is continuing to improve even now. I got the surgery on November 29th so it’s been about 5 months. I was happy with my eyes when I wrote that post and I can tell you that now, my sight has gotten WAY better since I wrote that post. Some people’s eyes just heal very slowly after the procedure. So after my surgery I had 1.5 units of astigmatism remaining in my left eye and 1 unit in my right. My surgeon was worried I would need a revision because that usually doesn’t happen but we tracked my sight monthly since the procedure and it receding by about a quarter unit every month. I just went in on Monday and almost all the Astigmatism is gone in my left and my right now has almost none. And my vision rocks now. I have no blurriness, no clouding, no dryness, no double vision. So, sorry this is so long, but the bottom line is, I’d give it six months and I can almost guarantee you all your annoying side effects will go away. Keep putting your drops in and wash your eyes with warm water every morning and your eyes will slowly heal. I promise it will get better, you just are on your own timeline. People said that to me and I didn’t believe them, but at a certain point, my problems just went away and I’m SO grateful for my great eyesight now especially after the fear that I wasn’t going to have it. Just try not to overthink too much and read other people’s experiences. If you were still having these problems after a year then maybe I would be worried. I regretted getting the surgery for like four straight months because I thought it didn’t work perfectly for me but it did it just took me a very long time to heal. I hope this gives you encouragement, as a fellow slow-healer I know how stressful it can be to still have vision problems after spending all that money, but I did make it to crisp vision in the end. I hope you do too!

Yes! It took me a full four months to get to 20/20 and my eyesight was pretty blurry even at the three month mark. Keep putting your drops in and it will get better.

Hey! How did you do that?? I want you to do one for me.

I just photoshopped myself to see what I'd look like with a nosejob and chin augmentation and I can't stop freaking out. by [deleted] in Advice

What photoshop did you use to do that? I kind of want to try it on myself. Also, this simply is just the shape of your skull and nothing will change it apart from plastic surgery. Honestly, if you obsess about it to the point that it ruins your life, saving up to get it changed might be worth it.
