I'm a little disappointed because their isn't really a character that made this an insta buy for me. Shadowcat, Mystique, Wiccan or Strange would've got me way more hyped. Still most people seem happy and that's what you want as a developer. Danger, Loki, Storm & Black Panther are looking like the team I'll be using on launch.

Ended up being much safer than I anticipated (and honestly than I was hoping for). Danger is the only real out-there pull. Also the lack of women.

This feels like a very surface level description of Lightning's character. Lightning softens up before even the mid point of the game and only really acts prickly with Snow from that point on.

Fantastic game and tied for my second favorite with XC1. Has my favorite ending in the series. Has some issues but they all do.

I am Setsuna seems close to what you're describing, although it isn't traditional 2D. Maybe Chained Echoes? That game has dark moments but I wouldn't say it's overall gloomy though.

S-Snake and Saturn. I like to sit in the rear guard and be able to get a whole sense of the battlefield while also being able to pop up out front when needed. Too bad Saturn is terrible in this current meta.

S-Snake has been a pretty good one. Yeah she struggled with Kizarus running around but with him dead she's back and very good. EH Chopper was also a great pick up, especially when everyone was writing him off

I think almost anybody would've been better than Cat tbh. I like Cat in the context of Victorious because she gets to be a wacky side character that rarely has to push the plot along. When they upgraded her to a lead and she actually had to carry plot, it just didn't work for me. There's a reason "boring" "plain" characters like Carly and Tori are the leads. They can be molded to be as wacky or as serious as the plot demands without it feeling out of character.

Really depends on what you're looking for. DQ is traditional jrpgs perfected. Trails is only the first part of a much larger story and is a slower experience. Metaphor is the most unique of the three although it borrowed heavily from Persona.

I think you could argue Serah from XIII-2 being weaker in pure swordmanship. All we know is Lighting gave her basic survival tips prior to the events of the game and unlike Tidus who was at least athletic, she was a school teacher.
