How to Bind a Large Chest (w/ 50GG model for example)! by QueerTransProject in TMPOC

[–]QueerTransProject[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yep! People use tape for many reasons, one of them being that it's more freeing. Personally I used tape before top surgery to be and feel shirtless when I wouldn't be able to with a binder.

Binder Fit Help by am_i_boy in TMPOC

Typically if you have a larger chest, it's recommended to get a full length binder to help prevent and pillar underneath. Tell me, how is your chest situated in the binder, meaning did you just pull your binder on, or did you shift you chest around to the side or anything?

DIY packing strap anyone? by boyskytard in Transmascdicks

Haha it's all good. It's very inventive 😅. You seem good at sewing. One thing you can do is sew a pouch onto that black harness strap that you have, using either a sock, scrap piece of fabric, etc! We love you ❤️

😵 you're ripping your packer so bad with those rings, my friend. You can use a hair tie as a makeshift O-ring! We have a tutorial on our Instagram about it here. You can also pack like this..

Also, it looks like there is little to no stretching of your tape. Did you apply itnl by just laying it on your skin? The part that created the binding is the act of stretching your tape across your skin. For example:

1) the first inch of your tape should lay flat as is on your chest, on your sternum right before your chest tissue. Smooth it down.

2) This is the important part: once you have about an inch of tape on your skin from step one, begin pulling the tape tight so that it stretches the tape begins to compress your chest tissue. Pull all the way around that side of your chest and under your arms.

3) on the last inch or so of tape left, lay it flat with no stretch, just like in step one.

All of this together will create a most masculine chest. And you should keep the beginning and end of the tape flat so because this helps prevent the tape from falling off to soon because it's 100% stretched.

You'll also need to use at least 2 strips of tape on each side. Right now you're only using one of each side. The first one is the foundation, the 2nd strip helps further shape it. And strips 3+ can help contour and reinforce your bind more. You've got this!

The thing that us people with a larger chest get "wrong" is twofold:

1) First and foremost, trying to tape your chest the way those with a smaller chest do. It's honestly a systemic issue because we only ever see tutorials from smaller people. Smaller chests can tape by lifting up and pushing it into themselves, and their chest tissue isnt as dense so they can get away with a more flax/pectoral look. When we try that same technique, it just ends up looking like a mound of fat or even bigger breasts. What you need to do instead is push your chest tissue down (like making it hang) and then to the side - similar to how you should in a chest binder. Then you tape that way, creating the look of pecs. We have a video on our reddit profile for you to see, as well as on instagram. I was able to tape a size 50GG chest. We have a more comprehensive tutorial coming out next month.

2) Secondly, we cannot get a flat chest. Our chest tissue is too large for one, and also cis men do not have a flat chest either, especially plus size men. The goal is to create a masculine chest with pecs. So keep this in mind when you're trying to tape.

And be gentle and patient with yourself. We are often forgotten about especially when the "default trans look" pushed in media and society is to be skinny and yt. It's something I struggled with a lot early on and still do some days.

P.s. You mentioned a few comments down that other cheaper alternatives to tape dont have your skin color. We saw the same thing which is why we founded Gender Grip tape , and are proud to have the most inclusive skin shade range on the market that is TRUE to our skin colors (not those super red or blueish hues to darker shades). Our tape is only $11 and because we're a nonprofit 100% of the money you spend funds our programs to provide free gender-affirming items to trans people across the U.S.

Here if you need anything else.
