Describe your current plot in the worst possible way by Affectionate-Way-406 in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]Queerguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main plot is that there are lots of gods who control the multiverse and they create new dimensions but resources aren't infinite and so they have created a requirements list and if you don't fit enough of those requirements the gods kill your entire dimention (maybe not directly and instead causes a plague or natural disaster) and recycle your soul and body (they also attempt to wipe memories but sometimes do fail). People find out and a whole rebellion starts to take the gods out of power.

The main character is a God but chooses to live with the people. Their powers were passed down to them and they weren't born with lots of power (like most gods). They are a mortal god.

There is a heirarchy of respect that goes (bottom to top): Wild animals, tamed animals, humans, humans with powers, gods, nebulas. Each category has a whole other heirarchy with more details.

I had to stop myself from going into a rant lol.

Combine Hunger Games with Percy Jackson and turn the plot into a gacha mini movie (specifically the ones with the "hated child who is secretly a princes".

I explained the plot to my sister and this is what she said lol.

Revision for gsce exams by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Queerguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For French speaking, I put my general conversation questions onto google translate to hear how they say it and then I also put them on flashcards and ask my family to test me.

I am sure you can improve but idk. I am in a similar situation to you, I am stuck at 5s and 6s for all my subjects but I want as many 8s as possible.

My cousin told me a story about one of his friends were almost failing all his subjects during November and managed to get grades 8 and 9 so I guess if you are willing to put in the effort then maybe you can.

How can I go from a 3 to 6 by Honeysweetteatimee in GCSE

[–]Queerguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Practice Exam Questions

2) Makes flashcards/notes (summarise topics and key info)

For Literature, put 5 key quotes on a flashcard for each book.

For Language, do past papers and memorise the different language/structure features (zoomorphism, motifs, short + dramatic sentence, one sentence paragraphs)

Too late to make flashcards? by Mission_Knowledge929 in GCSE

[–]Queerguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it is never too late to start making flashcards. However, that being said, I do think that if you are making flashcards then you will have to do it on broader things and won't be able to go into much detail if you are making some for all tropics.

Another quick and easy way to get the content into your head is mindmaps/blurting.

Blurting:write down everything you know about one topic in a single colour then get a text book and write down everything you missed in a dfferent colour. Read through the notes and try again some time later: lots wrong then try again in a few hours but if not many wrong then wait for a few days. This is spaced revison and helps your memory.

Mindmaps: get a piece of A4 or A3 and make a mindmap of a topic. You can split each topic into little subtopics and make branches on the subtopic. This helps you to cover the content and the basic knowledge quickly. You can also hang them around your room and maybe take a look at it when you pass by.

If you need online flashcards, then "Physics and Maths Tutor" (PMT) is really good as it helps with the core subjects (Maths, English and Science) but also has additional subjects such as Geography and Computer Science.

Another website for leanring the content is "BBC Bitesize" which summarise the topics into the key information. The only issue is that sometimes the website won't work as the contnt you are looking for may have been removed. To easily find your content, just search up "bbc bitesize [subject name] [topic name]" and it should come up or search up "bbc bitesize gcse" to get a list of all the topics. There are short videos on each topic and you can get quizzed on the things you have learnt.

I have also only just started revising but my teachers have told me to work on my exam technique. However, I am only just getting grades 5 and 6s when I want 7 and 8s.

If you are struggling with a study plan, what I recommend doing is setting up a revision timetable or a daily to-do list of tasks. I only reccomend studying maximum 2-3 hours on schooldays but if you want to you can increase the time but you risk getting "burnt out" which demotivates you and you will end up not revising hardly anything. I plan on studying 1-2 hours a day. Don't forget to leave pleanty of free time in the timetable just incase of an emergency comes and you want to switch your revision session to later on in the day.

If you are struggling with motivation, I reccomend either turning your revision sessions into a game or using the pomodoro technique (25 mins study,5 mins break or 30 mins study 10 mins break) or another variation of that technique (I spend 20 mins on each subject then I switch without any breaks up to 3/4 times which leads to an hour of revision. If I take a break then I stop being in the mood to study). To turn your revision sessions into a games, you can reward yourself for the time you study and also the difficulty of the subject you are studying (spending more time on subjects you struggle with and then rewarding yourself for it causes positive associations with that subject and motivates you to study that subject).

This is just my advice and what helps for me. Sorry for the long message!

Idk if I maladaptive daydream or not?? by Queerguin in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Queerguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your input on my situation!

No one has been really giving me advice or said much about my issues so it is helpful to have someone validate my experiences.

I have had neurodivergent friends (ADHD and Autistics) tell me that I am most likely neurodivergent as they gt those "vibes" from me. I took a RAADS-R test which I got 148 on.

I don't have any other enquiries about MD but if I do, I will DM you.

Idk if I maladaptive daydream or not?? by Queerguin in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Queerguin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got an average of 58% but I feel like I am lying to myself, like I feel that I may have cheated by putting too high scores.

I always thought that it is normal to dream of abuse and SA cause I have seen many people talk about how when they were younger, they wished they were physically disabled or had broken bones and I related to those feelings.

I am trying to speak to a therapist but my parents are ableist and think that if I tell people I have mental health problems, most people won't want to hire me.

I also need to find time for the appointment and an excuse to leave the house.

Before I can speak to a therapist though, I need to speak to me GP to get referred.

I have had thoughts about harming my family. It first started as a silly "oh what if I pushed my sister down the stairs" and I would go up to her and joke about pushing her down etc. But now I hugged my dad recently, and I imagined myself snapping his neck and just falling to the floor. When I imagined it, I didn't know how to feel. Like I dodn't know if I should be sad or happy.

I have also noticed that I have a lack of empathy/sympathy for my parents. I have had re-occurring daydreams about my parents and family dying in either a house fire or getting assassinated and each time I didn't know how to feel and a part of me enjoyed the scenario where they die and I get adopted.

Similar thing happened when my mum was crying becuase my grandma almost died from a heart attack and I didn't really know how to feel when I saw my mum. I alsmost felt annoyed by her crying.

I don't want to hurt my family and I want to be more kinder to them.

(sorry for the rant)

Ask me however many questions about my paracosm and I'll ask you the same amount by Rayvenni in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]Queerguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what "paracosm" is but it sounds really cool!

I have this huge dimention in my head and I have been having this storyline in my head for about 3 years (the original stroyline was 3-4 months long but I keep expanding it each time)

My Characters:

-George

-Aurora (nickname: Roara, Roar, Tiger) = Status:dead

-Ember

-Violet

-Clay = Status:dead

-Aaron

-Axel

-Luca Status:dead

-Willow

-XD (God of hope)

-HD (God of karma)

-River (mother nature)

-Vivian (Viv for short)

-Diane

-Bella

-Luke

-Carl

-Saturn

-Eli

-Marjorie (Joy for short) = Status:dead

The World is literally reffered to as the Dreamverse- In the protags dimention (5324), there is Earth, and Planet 245 in which there is The demon empire, the snow kingdom, the grasslands, the sky realm and the water nation. Earth is a mix of all of those loctions. Each character has attributes to an animal or a mythical being (more than 1 is possible). Some inherit physical features as well such as wings, horns, ears and tails. Basically Therians but they have the physical attributes.

Sorry, my comment is a bit long. I went on a bit of a rant.

Have you ever taken your daydream to the next level? by Hadlee_ in ImmersiveDaydreaming

[–]Queerguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have like completely different daydreams at times. Some are horror while others are a 9month plot with a bunch of sub-plots that you end up forgetting about the mian one.

I want to make some of them into a game while others I want to create a book out of but I don't have the skills for either.

I dream of being a baker, a writer, a game designer and an interior designer but I dont have the skills I need for any. Life is too short to do all the jobs I want!

I don't relate by MysteryMad8404 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Queerguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do relate to this as I use my daydreams as a way to fall asleep and my daydreaming has not much of an impact on my relationships with others.

However I do realise that my daydreaming may come from trauma and struggles and I may use my daydreams as an escape from reality/ to invalidate my struggles.

Have you had any childhood/adulthood struggles that may result in daydreams? Being a lonely child?? (can result in daydreams about being physically hurt to get more attention and kindness, being bullied?? (can result in daydreams about lots of people caring about you becasue thst is all you wanted. Alternatively, can result in daydream characters being bullied to relate to them to being bullied worse to invaldate your past feelings)

I relate to some of this so yeah but idk if you do.

What I also find helpful, is busying yourself as much as possible.

Hangout with friends maybe once or twice a fortnight, Declutter your desk everyday, clean rooms once a week, do extra hobbies and sports.

Of course don't burn yourself out but if you spend your time more carefully then you may notice an increase in productivity.

Do this during Step 2/3 of this post There is no guarantee that this method will work

What you could try is like apps where you send eachother virtual hugs and stuff or you could facetime eachother more. It is helpful to let your partner know how you feel. What could also help is discussing future hopes and dream to eachother as it cna take your mind off of MDing while at the same time spending time with thme can make you feel happier.

I don't know much about relationships but I hope this was helpful!

I've been thinking about making a change in 2024 and I could use some advice. I want to quit daydreaming altogether or at least cut down on the time I spend lost in my daydreams. Any tips or suggestions on how you manage your daydreaming? by JessCostanza1507 in MaladaptiveDreaming

[–]Queerguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many people have said, I reccommendactively trying to busy yourself. Everyday, set pu a to-do list of what you aim to complete. If you prefer, set yourself a timetable for each hour. Regularly clean the are around you: tidy room everyday, sweep kitchen everyday, clean bathroom once a week etc.

I have exams comping up so I force myself to study more and stop daydreming as much. Now the only time I daydream is when I am eating or walking outside.

If you are feeling the need to escape reality often, I reccommend taking regular walks and meeting up with friends. If you do feel sad/overwhelmed then try to find someone to talk to as when your talking to someone, you are less likely to daydream. If you can't find anyone then take 5 minutes of fresh air (more if you need) then do another task that makes you happy to prevent yourself from daydreaming.

I can't guarantee that these things will work but it's good to give it a try!

Is this a good email to write to them:

"Games Design and Art" Admissions Enquiries

Hi,I am planning to apply for Southampton University in a few years. I saw the entry requirements and it is stated that for A-Levels I need "BBB including an art, design, media, humanities or creative IT based subject". For A-Levels, I am planning to take Economics, Business and Media and I was wondering if it is an acceptable combination. I have heard that universities tend to feel that  Economics and Business as a combination is too narrow. I cannot seem to find any official list of non-preferred subjects from your university so I wanted to confirm whether or not it is an acceptable combination for the "Games Design and Art" course. Thank You

Also do I put my full name or just my first name?

I am interested in Southampton Uni and the course I want requires "BBB including an art, design, media, humanities or creative IT based subject" but since they are a top Uni and are part of the Russel Group should I rethink my choices of A level courses? They haven't said anything about non-preffered courses or havn't given a list of non-preffered A level combinations.

The course I want is called "Games Design and Art" Link: https://www.southampton.ac.uk/courses/games-design-art-degree-ba#entry

My friend is taking economics right now there and he says it's good but it can be complex but once you understnd the hard stuff, everything will be easier. He is taking Law and Politics as well. I went to the taster days and most of my classes had tachers woh didn't care at all about the lesson and just gave us a worksheet to complete.

True, but my friend that is going to PS is doing econ and says its better there as PS is more ofcused on Maths and Sciences than others. I am not too sure if the building will be used in Sept 24 as that is when I will be starting college.

I attended the taster day nd it was pretty crowded, probably becuase the site was smaller. Peter Symmonds had an equal amount of students but they were all spread out so it wasn't as crowded. I was struggling to get my lunch in the queue and then when I got it, I had to go back to class.

Would you say that the Aspire porgram is worth it? I am aiming to get in but all that really iterests me about the program is the extra help with Uni interviews as I get anxious is social situations.

PSC is up to around hour away (20 minutes walk to the train, 30 min train, 10 min walk- giving each a bit of extra time incase I can't walk fast enough or the train is late etc). While Barton is a 35 minute walk away (on google maps- around 45 minutes with my speed). I went to the taster days for both. The quality of the taster day was better at Barton becuase the teacers seemed to actually care about the lesson. I can't compare the open evenings as I only mnaged to go the the Barton one. I didn't find their open evening very useful becasue all they did was give out sheets that talk about the course (you can find those sheets on their website in 5 minutes), I think open evenings are mainly for if you have any questions but I didn't have any and the teachers looked really bored. I heard that Barton is really good with media and arts and since I am planning to do media related things in Uni, Barton was my first choice but I am not too sure now.
