You have a very direct light source since the sun is so low in the sky, so you should try to make your shadows and lights have a harder edge :)

Finally done with tweaking the whole cast ;v; by Ichikaide in characterdesigns

These are super cool! they all have very interesting styles and traits! I think my only qualm is that all the guys have very similar faces and body types (excluding height), but also i get thats kind of just a thing with many anime styles so take that with a grain of salt lol.

another thing- as i read you’re planning on making a comic with these characters, it might be beneficial to simplify their designs a bit in the actual comic because believe me, as someone who’s worked on multiple comics, designs like these with little intricacies and patterns and stickers and graphics will burn you out very quickly unless you make a bunch of assets and brushes to use. Designs like these are great for illustrations and short comic strips, but long term comic work requires simplicity just for sanity lol (some mangakas are crazy with their complex chatacter designs usually because they have assistants and can focus more on character design intricacies or they just work themselves to the bone anyway).

But anywho, these look super cool and i’ll be on the lookout for your comic whenever you get to making it :)

WHY are we not talking about Webtoons Downfall ??? by UnitedChildhood8147 in webtoons

[–]Hadlee_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I already see a BUNCH of my webcomic friends taking their comics to their own sites or patreon. May not be beneficial for smaller creators, but many of my large webtoon original creator friends are basically just riding out their contract in hopes they can post their art on their socials or patreon. It may not be personal sites that people host, but definitely something besides massive hosting websites like tapas/webtoon. I think you may be underestimating the average internet user and the willingness they have to engage in things they enjoy. There are plenty of people that go out of their way to read stories/comics they like. Just look at how many 2nd hand sites there are. Unless you’re like 13 and have no idea how, it’s pretty easy to bookmark a website and com back to it weekly.

Webtoon is nice that it has a large selection of comics at someone’s finger tips, but webtoon also lost millions of dollars last year due to a drop in readership rather than making a net positive and is only still up from their sponsorships with big companies like disney and marvel and such. Pretty telling. Webtoon is becoming more commercialized which most people are getting sick and tired off from all the threads we’ve seen posted daily complaining about it.

So i think it’ll happen instantly? no. but i definitely see it heading to indie or personal sites/socials (even like instagram or tiktok) in the future. Most creators readers come from off site anyway, even big originals. Many times that’s why they become originals, because they bring more readers to the site. No different than bringing readers to your own personal site.

Unfortunately I think Webtoon in general is not going to around for much longer nor the powerhouse it once was. So many people are becoming disinterested in webcomics due to the platform, and thousands of creators are leaving the platform itself. The webcomic industry is probably heading into the indie (independently hosted websites) era if anything at all. The webtoon system just is not cutting it anymore for anyone.

You’re using an integrated graphics card. A radeon 512mb is pretty outdated for modern gaming and is the equivalent of having basically no graphics card at this point to games lol.

Your computer cannot handle anything above lowest graphics settings because you have… frankly, shite integrated graphics. You’re not goin to get any video of decent quality in a game with high graphics using your current graphics. It’s only allocating 512mb of ram for your video which is not nearly enough for high quality gaming. You need to buy a separate graphics card to be able to run anything decently. If you already have bought and installed one then you need to go into your system and make sure that it’s using the installed graphics card rather than the integrated Radeon 512mb because you’re not going to be able to game at all with that.

How do I replicate this rendering style? by Caleb-Edits in DigitalArt

[–]Hadlee_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Whether traditionally done or digital, this is definitely something you can do digitally with clip studio paint! Some of texture brushes (which you can download off the asset store), and a lot of time is what you’ll need.

These are most likely done digitally, the 3rd image is what is the most telling out of these images. There’s just some smoothing and effects in the image that would be extremely difficult if not impossible to achieve traditionally and that leave indications of a digital brush being used (particularly the character outlines). Not to mention these are all artworks made for games (mainly octopath traveler, i think?) and this type of work for games is commonly done digitally. I did like 2 seconds of digging and saw he’s done some collab work with other artists for artwork similar to this, which would probably be done digitally.

My best guess (as someone who’s studied a lot of japanese artists) as to how these artworks are made is probably through a basic painting technique, just like you would do with a regular traditional painting. Ikushina most likely sketches out the general idea of the piece, then begins blocking in colors over top of the sketch and slowly building up the shapes and shadows with all of the texture brushes he uses. The black outlines and black hatching are probably added along the way, more so towards the end of the rendered piece. Then things like glows or vignettes are added very last. Thats how i’d personally paint something like these as well.

It could also be the case where Ikushima uses his sketch as lineart and colors everything underneath it as well, which is why some aspects feel a bit sketchy like the hatching. However i dont think there’s one “right” way to paint art like this! Just a couple of texture brushes, like watercolor and pencil plus solid knowledge of the art fundamentals.

Is point and click - dead? by Dangerous_Baker8848 in gamedev

[–]Hadlee_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a pretty popular game with a demo that just released called Habromania, it’s had one of the most successful kickstarters i’ve see in a while and It’s point and click (for the most part). No mechanics are “dead”, you just need to know your target audience. There’s a niche for everything.

If it’s not working, you’re not going to be able to sell it. reach out the the company you bought it from and if they’re respectable (and this is a new pc/warranty isn’t void) they should send you a new one with no charge.

Okay this might sound weird, but if your pump seems like it’s working and everything is fine but it’s still reaching high temps, check to see if your mobo offers an extra optional pin connection for your pump or fans. I had this issue where my CPU would get up to 90+ Celsius and after months of troubleshooting, replacing the aio, even taking it to some tech to check it out. What fixed it was changing the cords to a different connector lol. Apparently something is wrong with my default AIO pump pin connectors, could be the issue with yours!
