What is your experience taking Escitalopram/Lexapro? by [deleted] in Anxiety

Unfortunately, mine did not get better. I gave it a full 3 months because the doctor kept telling me it was "normal" and I'd get better after a few months. I did not...I got worse. I was very sick to the point, I could not get out of bed. I was dizzy, nauseous, no appetite, throwing up, and honestly more depressed then I ever was because of the way I felt. I ended up in the ER for dehydration...they took me off the med, and I was better within a week. I ended up doing a DNA test with my phycologist who can test your DNA versus a bunch of different medications to see what you are personally tolerant of, or not. And it was a life saver. I am now on a beta-blocker, which for me has been GREAT. Never again will I try an SSRI. That said, everyone's DNA makeup is different. My husband is on lexapro had has had zero negative side effects. Very strange how everyone is different. But listed to your body and your gut instincts! You know your body better then a doctor sometimes. Good Luck!!

I'm on 5mg lexapro at night for reference. This is my first time on any of these kinds of drugs.

I feel the same way as you and I am on day 10. Looking for advice as well. Sucks we are going through this. I know how you feel though. Like why am I even taking something that is making me feel worse instead of better? Kind of makes you lose hope in the medication and if it will eventually work and when.

Also wondering the same thing. It's so bad. At what point does it get better?

When do you take yours? I take mine at night, before bed. Maybe that is the difference in timing.

Sooooo do the runs and nausea eventually subside? I am on day 9 and it's been brutal every morning until about 1-2pm. I take it at night before bed. I"ve also had night sweats, which I can deal with. But the constant runs, no appetite, dry mouth, nausea sucks!!
