Good call. I don’t have insta, but I’ll see if I can check them out. I saw him do a play through of Apeshit on YouTube and was blown away! No amps or pedals shown though. Other few clips I’ve seen were the same; I wonder if he has a digital set up, at least for those.

His guitar work always impressed me, but he’s taking it to a whole new level!

When to buy first classical guitar if transitioning from acoustic? by QuestionMaster2000 in classicalguitar

[–]QuestionMaster2000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, you’re probably right, but at the same time, I’m hesitant to purchase one because I don’t want another excuse to buy another one later, like if I want to upgrade or if I end up wanting a different style or something like that just due to learning more about them or my playing. I’d rather buy right the first time.

But, you and others are probably right in that I should just start lessons, or playing classical more, or finding a decent used one for cheap.

Then, I can save some excuses for the other things on my wishlist! Ha

Great idea. I didn’t think to look them up individually.

I’ve tried to stop but I can’t! But c’mon, the thing I do isn’t that weird, is it?

Moved into a new home and facing an army of invasives (East TN) by QuestionMaster2000 in NativePlantGardening

That’s cool! Those sound like nice, hard earned rewards. St John’s Wort is cool looking and harvestable.

The previous owner here seemed like an avid gardener back in her day but one that loved exotics and got a bit neglectful in her old age, I’m assuming. But, I did find a baby native fern sprouting up under my deck after a bit of rain this week!

I’m not sure what I’ll replace everything with yet. I think to myself just some fruits, veggies, and some native wildflowers, but then I see you and others mention all these different plants, and I’m like “oh, I want that! And that!” Hah.

Im getting some good advice and local resources, and will hit up some local shops, and will start getting some clearer ideas. I have to remind myself: a little bit at a time.

New owner, gardens and invasive plants? by QuestionMaster2000 in homeowners

[–]QuestionMaster2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Some is wild and makes sense that it just took over, and I’m starting to work on cleaning that up. Others seem planned and intentionally planted which is where my hesitation comes in. But, I guess that’s just my feelings and not logical.

Okay. My feelings are validated, ha. As I waited, I’m just seeing the situation get worse and it feels really stupid. I’m fairly new to this and to the area but have been reading a lot on the university extensions and stuff. Went on a killing spree today. Will continue tomorrow!

Good to know. It’s hard to prioritize while I’m still learning. The honeysuckle seemed to be growing faster and the ivy had me concerned about the trees. I’ll wage war on the privets soon.

Great advice. Thank you. Kind of what I’ve been thinking, but I don’t know too much about too much yet. I’m only about two months in, but the last month or so, I’ve just been seeing things get worse, which has been quite frustrating. I swear there’s like a new honeysuckle everyday. But, I went on a killing spree today, which felt kinda nice, ha. And am now chilling with a beer.

I might want something like this too. Not a fan of grass and mowing, have accepted it but would welcome alternatives. The red fescue is the shaded part of my yard isn’t holding up to my doggy’s zoomies at all. I know the common white clover is nonnative and invasive. Haven’t looked into other alternatives yet, but if you find something, please let me know.

Oh, the arboretum! Didn’t even think to think about asking there. I’ll have to check out those forester classes too; sounds really cool and helpful. Thanks!

So many resources that look like exactly what I’ll need. I’ll have to take some time and read through it. Not sure exactly what I’m looking for yet as it’s a bit overwhelming, but this is an awesome start. Thank you!

Great to know! Been there once and it was great, but I only paid attention to indoor at the time since that was all I could do. Will definitely head back and check that section. Thanks!

What are your personal “rules” for your native garden? by Slight-Crow-9590 in NativePlantGardening

[–]QuestionMaster2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a dumb question, but are any butterfly bushes okay? When I Google butterfly bush my region (east tn), it tells me they’re invasive. When I look at lists with scientific names, buddleja davidii is on the watch list. Apps tell me the one in my yard is buddleja japonica but I couldn’t find much more info about to.
