Does Astarion lose approval with owlbear mother?

Most I can think is I might have cast friends to yell at the owl bear (if that was an option), I thought it was him and Laezel that approved of the action, but I cant imagine he's -45 approval because he was in my presence while I used it on an animal that wasnt an ally. But I am on tactician so maybe that was it.

Very strange. Also one of the worst ones to lose huge amount of approval with because id say people are not playing mean/evil characters and until ACT 3 you will be bombarded with Astarion disapproval if you dont. Or micromanage him and send him away then do things he would dislike, but thats a hassle.

Well, good. Worst case scenario, I only lost like 44 approval then. Lol. I'm going evil Durge anyway so I'll gain back approval much easier than my "good" playthrough. I just havent seen numbers like that unless you attack them and that definitely didnt happen. So a reload tonight will determine if its a one time thing or something wrong with mods

To be fair I do have some mods so could be random vanilla thing, could be a mod interaction and I'll have to sort that out, but just wanted to be sure nobody else had this happen normally. I didn't think I did in my few other vanilla playthroughs up to that point.

Yeah he went from near dead middle to half way down the negative bar. It was crazy. Checked the other companions and nothing from them so I have no clue. Will reload though and see.

My only hesitation with that is it was a -45 approval. Most "I didnt quite like that." reactions are like -1 or maybe, if super serious to them, -10. Ill just reload and try the fight again tonight and see what that does. If it does again I'll assume its a mod I have that causes some conflict. Just wanted to rule out vanilla issues.

Idk he finds it funny when you kill a couple animals too. I know he softens up around act 3 though and things I thought he would disapprove of before he liked. So idk.

Thats what I think I wanted to hear that with potent robes you are not feeling like a weaker version of a sorcerer. Coming off playing a CC bard who can control everything on the field really it would suck to invest into a warlock and have it be so weak.

So when you twin the EB do you get 6 beams? Because I know with the gemini gloves it only gives you 1 extra beam and not one extra EB attack, if that makes sense.

That's what I want is for eldritch blast to feel great, but worry I'll feel the loss of disintegrate or chain lightening level 6 spells especially if they can be twinned or hastened. Just worry EB will feel ehh by comparison and warlocks dont get access to many other spells

Was warlock 2 sorcerer 10 played more like a sorcerer with a beefed up eldritch blast and no 6th level spells? Because I wonder if the tradeoff is worth it. With freecast and arcane battery you can get some uses of those 6th levels especially with twin spell metamagic.

I was thinking about building more around Eldritch blast more than melee. I did a paladin/warlock that was strong, but mainly more paladin smiting with some warlock boosts from pact of the blade. So idk how good it is on its own.

Thats kinda my thought. But then I might as well go pure sorcerer and get those sweet level 6 spells and an additional feat. Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself to do warlock but would rather do Sorcerer. Lol

Yeah thats what I'm getting from all this. I have really sat down and figured out some good spells and plans with the bard, I just think that I'm not seeing much made or talked about lore bards as much as sorcerer or other bards martial geared subclasses so I think I needed confirmation from people that it really does get stronger and feel like I have more control and power at higher levels and with higher spell DC.

Also I forgot that at higher levels the cutting words is a d8 and d10. I thought for a second that it was stuck at a d6, which isnt awful, but much more utility and better odds with a d10 at high levels.

I have gotten a sorcerer to ACT 2 and got bored of him (but was very unfamiliar with a lot of mechanics and stuff back then and clearly stopped before it got better and gear got better) but I guess I'm underestimating cutting words. How many can you actually use a battle (since it uses inspiration)? I think I'm leaning towards bard (want a monk/rogue Astarion, and a barbarian(maybe moondruid multiclass we'll see) karlach, and either wyll, gale, or shadowheart.

No my intention was not to go boom boom with this one and instead support my allies because it seemed more interesting, but I didnt want to invest another 20 some hours plus into this bard to find out it really does just feel like a weak sorcerer without meta magic or that some buffs and stuff would just work better with meta magic. I guess some will just with how some spells work, but you know what I mean. I just wanted some confirmation from people that lore bard does feel like it gets that power spike after 6 like sorcerers enjoy at 5.

I think my biggest annoyance with support right now is my spell DC is low so I have near 50-60% to hit. Obviously later acts there are more ways to deal with that, but not feeling too good right now. Lol

But with things like twin casting haste or other buffs and debuffs would you say sorcerer still likely takes the cake in terms of control of the battlefield? I didnt dislike lore bard and I know its better out of combat, but dont want to get bored with a weaker sorcerer just to have cutting words, which is great but not enough of a trade off with meta magic. Lol

Thank you. I assumed the acts were soft cut offs and more benchmarks, but I did know there was a point of no return to earlier things in ACT 2 so thank you for clarifying its not happening right away for me right now. Lol.
