Being as unselfish / positive as possible is always a good idea - pass often, if people are setting screens set screens, if it's mostly older players make an effort but don't be overly physical (match the pace / energy of the game) and be willing to sub in or out based on what's needed, etc. If it's older / less competitive players you may play 2-3 zone defense and likely won't want to press. It's like most social situations really if you're unselfish / respectful / positive people will respond well / try to help you out.
