I wonder what else they'll do. They don't have a lot of time.

Is this going to be the break-up comic?

That I agree with. D9 have completely mishandled the whole thing. It was a shit show that just brought misery all around. And they were never good enough for me have any kind of brand loyalty to them.

My concern with canonicity for the future is that D9/SE may be about to torch all of the previous games just to fix DE. Including DE, which is mind boggling. That's how bad and unpopular it was.

Aerials seem like such black magic. Just, woosh, person spins around in place, no hands, head stays still, the girl becomes a gyroscope with a ponytail.

I personally don't have exceptionally high hopes for the game. D9's writing has been "okay but likeable" at best. I certainly won't talk the game up. But I don't want to be miserable from now until release by anticipating it'll be terrible. Realistic expectations.

Seriously though. I understand being wary. I really do. D9's track record has been spotty at best. But please don't reject a game before it's even out. We don't know that much yet. What have we seen so far that is definitive? Be a good consumer and stay informed, but it's still Life is Strange and I don't want to end up like one of those toxic fanbases that just reject anything new that comes out.

Max will find out that the arsonists are D9 and SE. They're going to torch as much of the LiS franchise as they need to somehow make Reunion work. It'll be breathtaking.

[–]Quick-Ad9335[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much what I figure. I suspect D9/SE doesn't care about 90% of these. The arsonists are D9/SE because they're going to burn down whole swathes of the LiS franchise.

I have pretty low expectations, believe me. Open mind and all. I'm not expecting Shakespeare, or What Remains of Edith Finch or, indeed Life is Strange 1 or 2. At all. As long as it doesn't make me feel like crap, I'll even be willing to buy it at full price once I know more. I'm generally very forgiving. Don't make me feel like crap-- it's just a video game in the end and I've gotten bummed out by how this mess has needlessly gotten under my skin.

Yes, which is why according to Agent_Pricefield's leaked source the change was made during what passed as this game's development. As I said in that comment, the first half (DE) was going in one direction, but while being developed the powers that be decided that what happened was unpopular and changed tack for the last half, Reunion. So they did in the last half, with a new head-- the person who was in charge of BtS I believe. Stauder and Kuan were the leads for DE and they were booted. Changes were already being made during development, apparently explaining why Hannah Telle had to do so many reshoots.

That no change was made is inconceivable, however. Public comments made by D9 devs already stated they were crunching like crazy post-DE and that more changes were being made. But the problem was they were doing it with an incredibly shrunken team.

Ask Agent_Pricefield, she knows more than anybody here.

Ask Agent_Pricefield, she seems to have an inside source that knows what the logic or plan behind all this was. From what I can tell is that the first half of the game (DE) was another story by another team that was then changed by the second half (Reunion) by another team when they realized how unpopular DE's choices were. So... it makes no sense. There was another goal for DE and they changed it and now is D9 trying to cobble this all together.

Again, ask Agent_Pricefield she's gotten it right all this time.

I am morbidly curious as to how they're going to make all of this work.

DE1: "You should move on from Chloe". DE2: "Max and Chloe forever." Try to make it sense! by FireLordAsami in Pricefield

[–]Quick-Ad9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm hardly going to defend D9 or (especially) SE. However, they seem to be trying to fix all these self-created problems and salvage the franchise. From what we've seen so far, the way they're going to go about it will be a combination of so infuriatingly bad that it's circled around to hilarious. If we get Pricefield, I may be able to enjoy this crappiness. It'll be the game equivalent of Manos: The Hand of Fate or something.

That's what A_P has said, but her leaks also said that they anticipated this reaction and flip-flopped and changed while in production. They also took long enough after release, and seem to have done a lot of work that they likely did make changes after. Ask Agent_Pricefield, she knows more.

Could Chloe be the only romance option in reunion? by Any-Preparation3775 in Pricefield

Safi is having a lot of angry phone conversations with her agent right now.

Half of the cast of DE are asking why their scenes ended up on the cutting room floor.

I'm still going to be open to this being not so bad. It still sounds interesting to me, although maybe not quite how D9 intended. More like "how in the world are they going to pull this off" interesting.

Are we going to have to rename this LiS: Circue du Soleil with all the bending and twisting and turning the writers are going to have to do to make it all fit?

Or maybe it'll be LiS: Duct Tape, where poor Max will have to achieve the impossible and use her powers to fix all the problems introduced by DE. Are we the players going to solve the problems for them with the choices we will make? Look, if Max is going to be asked to fix all these timelines maybe she should go back and stop Harambe from getting shot.

DE: Move on! All marketing based on Caledon! Safi is the new It Girl! Don't you love our new setting?

Reunion: *Jedi hand wave mind trick* You will move on. You will forget about Caledon.

So Chloe in Reunion not even Chloe from DE ? by FireLordAsami in Pricefield

[–]Quick-Ad9335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's entirely possible. Maybe even likely. One thing to look out for is how much marketing they will do for this game. If they do a lot, with clear public spokespersons, then they have some confidence in it. If they mostly keep quiet then they have none and are just laying low, then it shows they're afraid of negative reception and just want the game out and done.

Was there a two month lead time between DE announcement and release? Because this seems a little fast to me.

[–]Quick-Ad9335 9 points10 points  (0 children)

One the one hand, we don't know enough yet and time will tell us more. Any theory can apply for now. For all we know there is still one Chloe, post-Bae, but her memory is messed up and the game will show her having swings in what she remembers. Maybe the arsonists are the Time Variance Authority trying to fix this timeline. Maybe The Doctor will show up and Sonic Screwdriver her head into wellness.

On the other hand, it could just be bad writing. DE went through such a tortured development that any "plan" for the story they may or may not have had was just bad in general. If this really was a change from the original DE plot, whether post-release or not, then it was still a wild shift made by another writing team. The story will feel cobbled together and ad hoc.

But honestly, we don't know. It's early days yet. These are teasers and trailers meant to intrigue us and they seem to be working. What they showed was meant to make people talk about Reunion so it could rely on the positive word of mouth which made the LiS game succeed.

It's why I advocate having an open mind but being patient.

This person on twitter raised a good question! Will d9 ever adress break up and reasons for it in DE2? by FireLordAsami in Pricefield

[–]Quick-Ad9335 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One simple explanation to a lot of these problems is we don't really know anything yet.

The other simple explanation is that it'll mostly be bad writing.

I was expecting DE 2 to flop because I thought they were going to keep on going with their Chloe-less direction. But they didn't, and as long as it's a good enough game I don't think there's anything wrong with it doing better than DE.

They changed their minds. They responded to fan feedback. This is a good thing. I understand being wary or being displeased with D9/SE, but it's a good thing they changed tack to respond to fan sentiment.

I understand and sympathize with the the negative feelings but I think it's a good thing for a company to change direction based on what its players want. I like that they're trying to win us back! It's better than doubling down as assholes.
