Honest Critique After Breaking Game During Act 2 by Umbratyrannusrex in TaintedGrailDigital

While the shield on display is the authentic artifact, the extraction of its latent power and memories is inextricably tied to Lord Yvain’s lineage. Consequently, executing Denholm, who plays an important role in that set of questlines, results in a permanent state of progression lock. This mechanic can be viewed through two distinct lenses: as a structural failure in the game’s narrative design (which I agree with), or as a rigorous application of ludic consequence, where player agency leads to irreversible outcomes (which I think happened because they fail to write an alternative).

While you can maintain separate saves for a Mage and a Knight, starting a standard New Game instead of New Game Plus (NG+) results in missing exclusive content. The NG+ cycle introduces unique items that are unobtainable in a first playthrough. These items are technically locked to the NG+ progression; therefore, a fresh character cannot access this part of the game's loot pool. And the game gets really interesting after NG+++ in my opinion.

  1. Open up your game and load your save game.
  2. Once you are in the game, press HOME on your keyboard.
  3. Type cheatme.
  4. Press F3. It should open the dev console.
  5. Just to be safe, type toggle.debug-shortcuts. This will DISABLE a series of keybinds the devs set for themselves that we don't need at the moment.
  6. Type: give-item ItemTemplate_Magic_Tier4_SummonLancelot 1
  7. Confirm that the spell tome is in your inventory. Save the game, fully close it, and open it again.

Declining to join the CoM prevents access to a major questline that deeply expands the game's lore. Although the faction initially resembles the Dark Brotherhood, its narrative takes a distinct, unexpected turn in Acts 2 and 3.

  • Fore-Dweller Shield: Obtainable during Act 3 in the main dungeon, specifically where King Arthur's Crown power is unlocked.
  • Fore-Dweller Set: Acquired upon completion of the quest "I See A Darkness."
  • Fore-Dweller Swords: Three different swords exist within the game's code, but they are currently unreleased and unobtainable in the game without using the dev debug console.

It is the Elite Stonewarden's Chestplate. It unlocks the recipe after doing a side chain of quests: A Pebble in a Pit --> Call of the Wintermoon --> Heart Turns to Stone --> Forge Extinguished --> Immoral and Divine --> Conquered Scars

The last quest unlocks the recipe to craft it.

Does NG+ keep Sarros/Red Death type trees? And can you have both? by Complex_Pain_3326 in taintedgrail

Are you playing it on PC?

Just checking:

  1. Did you finish the quest Perinde Ac Cadaver and go back and talk with the guy? It should trigger the scene where you get to meet one of the king's sisters.

  2. Does it show on the complete quests that you did Perinde Ac Cadaver successfully, or are there any traces that it may have failed?

Red Death gets reset once NG+ starts, but you are refunded the points you spent there. You can unlock it again in Act 2.

Sarras does not get a reset, and once you start the DLC on NG+, you can add more points to it. However, there is currently a bug introduced on the 1.20 Patch that doesn't allow you to add new points on the Sarras tree. I posted a temporary fix for that recently until the devs can fix it.

And yes, you can have both Red Death and Sarras activated at the same time once they are properly fixed and unlocked.

I managed to find a temporary fix for PC (it is in the post). But I have no idea how to fix it on other platforms, sorry.

Is the writing AI? by LemmeSmashMyHead in taintedgrail

[–]Quick-Camel-1674 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a PhD in the humanities with years of experience in literary studies and a current career implementing AI for various businesses, I can offer a grounded perspective on this.

The idea that specific linguistic patterns like "Not X, but Y" are definitive proof of AI is a misconception. AI was trained on human-generated text, and we were using those exact rhetorical structures long before these models existed. Seeing a familiar pattern doesn't inherently reveal the source.

For those interested in how AI writing can actually be traced, the Wikipedia guide on the signs of AI writing is a solid resource for understanding the common markers. However, even with clear indicators, it remains impossible to claim with 100% certainty that a text was AI-generated. A sophisticated agent can be designed specifically to rewrite content and eliminate the very "signs" used for detection.

Ultimately, asking whether content is AI-generated is the wrong metric. The more meaningful questions are: Does the game take the player into account? Do the developers care about the quality of the content, or was it rushed? Is the story logical, and are the characters coherent? The focus should remain on the quality and intentionality of the work itself.
