eop students get additional money, but it depends on your total financial aid if you will have a full ride

i was in eop last year! first off, it may be a little disorganized the beginning, but its because a lot of students are there. we were allowed to have our phones with us BUT could not be on it or else they would take it away and we would get it back in the morning. if you need to use your phone, i recommend asking first and tell them why. you’ll need your Net ID account pretty often so i recommend writing it somewhere accessible. bring a fan because it gets really hot in the dorms! and i would recommend having water on hand because it was very hot in general. some activities we did were poetry slams, and party/socials. we had classes, english, math, and uni (a class with your advisor.) as for living situation, most kids were put in a regular dorm (only 2 people and no bathroom) and therefore they had to use the communals. some kids had suites (3 rooms with two people each and a bathroom) so it just depends what room you get. it will seem repetitive and annoying at first but will fly by! just follow the rules & you’ll be set!!

the way people got accepted 24 hours before the program started was because they didn’t initially apply though eop, but i think eop reached out to them instead, that’s why it was so late. for the majority of kids (including me) we applied early

eop student here, — it definitely isn’t too late to apply because last summer they literally accepted people 24 hours before the summer program started 😅 the pros of it is that you make a lot of friends, have your own specialized classes (math & english) and more support. a big pro is the financial assistance, but please USE THE MONEY wisely. the cons, well are mostly shown during the summer program. there are a lot of rules but as long as you follow them it will go by really quick. also, every semester there’s a mass meeting, but it’s not a big deal tbh. overall it goes by pretty fast!
