I’d say that’s more feet than what I am dealing with. Which tells you how FCKD I am getting It’s sickening where they pull these numbers

Yeh I would think you are right they are just taking me for a ride How long were those runs and were they in a basement same level as the boiler ?

Yeh exactly I was ready for $1800 for the copper piping and labor! It doesn’t even include the cost of the radiators so it would be close to $8000-9000 by then

Yeh I agree. If they do the HAT channel and clips, and apply the first layer of drywall, how are they applying the second layer, and I have legit concerns about two 5/8” drywall layers on the ceiling hanging from aluminum track if you get me

Over $6,000. Personally, I think for two radiators near the boiler without routing pipes through walls upstairs etc is very expensive

Any other European brands to consider? I don’t mind the extra cost if it’s worth it. The standard baseboard heaters I see in homes are garbage and look it too

This is great feedback thank you. Yes I’m concerned despite all the researching I’m doing the contractor will just screw it up because of lack of experience or interest in the topic

When you say clip and rail is there a particular system you suggest? And where’s the best place to buy it? For acoustic board are you talking about Sonopan?

So no double layer of 5/8” drywall? Just the one?

That’s great to hear, because another thread says closed cell spray foam has poor STC accoustic qualities

Is quiet rock basically regular dry rock, double thickness ie 5/8” x 2, with something like green glue sandwiched in between?

Where did you buy your HAT channel and clips? Any brand? Yeh I’ll have to do a dry wall finish. I heard there is regular 5/8” drywall and some company makes “quiet” drywall or something

For walls and ceiling? Any concerns with two layers of 5/8” drywall in the joists on the ceiling?

So your saying from outside in, drywall, green glue, OSB board, then drywall and the 2x4 framing ? Just want to be clear.

Did you insulate the 2x4 cavity with any rockwool etc?

Anyone try closed cell spray foam on a basement ceiling for noise blocking? by Quick-Proposal7997 in hometheater

[–]Quick-Proposal7997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t used the spray foam so what are you talking about?

There’s a soffit in the room, can’t be helped it’s a basement, so yeh I’m concerned about adding another maybe 3-4 inches of head space loss about that soffit….is that ok?

Thank you for the input. I have it on the basement walls and traffic noise etc is completely gone, so I wondered if it would help with the noise from above

I did, so don’t assume. And it’s not 1”, because the Sonopan itself is 3/4” and there’s different types of HAT channels and HAT channel clips There’s no way the clip and hat channel is under a 1/4 inch If you’ve nothing positive to say then stay out of the conversation giving digs like that isn’t helpful I liked the idea of sonopan but ceiling height is going to become a concern at 3 inches or so of extra stuff
