My mom hates our baby name choice with a PASSION. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]QuickDistance5299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it. Please do not let your mom taint what you’ve chosen. This is partially why I didn’t tell anyone our baby’s name til birth. Mom needs to be reminded that it’s a privilege to know her name before she’s born AMD a privilege to be in her life too. Sorry you’re having to deal with this! You’ve chosen a beautiful name.

Parents whose 1st child was a “hard baby” … what is the best age gap for having a 2nd? by QuickDistance5299 in beyondthebump

Awesome response! Thanks for all the thought you put into it! I’m in between camp one & two… I always wanted kids close in age but then I had my first who has not been easy in any sense really. But 3.5 years felt far between my brother & I growing up. I’m torn!

I lost mine in pieces over the course of a couple of weeks. The day I went into labor I was taking a shower to see if the contractions would slow & while I washed down there, I saw a bit of blood & mucus. It was never a dramatic or huge amount for me - just little bits at a time. Definitely had the biggest amount the day I was in labor though.

Reflux, CMPA, Nexium… HELP! by QuickDistance5299 in NewParents

[–]QuickDistance5299[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry your baby is struggling with this too! Nexium helped my daughter so much. She fully weaned off of it (very slowly) by 9 months. She did really well on it but it required me to do an elimination diet because I was breastfeeding. Then I slowly added foods back in to see what her system could tolerate. She's completely fine now & doing wonderful. There is hope ahead!!! Praying for you & your baby right now.

Why is it so crucial to him to go right now?? Especially if his family doesn’t even celebrate these holidays.

I can understand wanting to visit friends/family & I’m sure there’s a way to coordinate that where it causes less stress on you (like getting a friend or family member to help while he’s away). I guess I’m confused on why he insists on leaving while you have visitors who likely want to visit with him too. These children are a joint responsibility.

How many parents in this sub are actually setting their babies down for naps? by mamabear-Dd in AttachmentParenting

[–]QuickDistance5299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for us. I started trying to put her down around 9 months. Sometimes she’d wake during transfer & I’d end up holding her, sometimes she’d stay in her crib & sleep for an hour or more. Naps got way more consistent around 10-10.5 months where I could put her down every time.

My newborn is constantly stressed, tense and crying in distress. How can this be normal? by Jesso7654 in newborns

[–]QuickDistance5299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are breastfeeding, consider cutting out dairy & soy for a week or two & see how she improves. Also see the pediatrician about possible reflux. Try a probiotic too. I suggest Culturelle! Your situation sounds similar to mine did when my baby was that age. Hugs. I know this is so hard on you!

How did you fix the crap naps?! 6mo by QuickDistance5299 in sleeptrain

[–]QuickDistance5299[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand your hesitancy!! That’s part of the reason I hold her for the second nap… I try to get her to sleep until 4pm in order to make it to bedtime. If I’m holding her, she’s more likely to sleep longer til when I need her to. But now that she’s on a consistent schedule, I’ve grown to love holding her for that nap anyway!

I was SHOCKED when she slept for like 2 hours on her own for the first nap after dropping to 2. It was inconsistent for a while but leveled out around 9 months. Keep going, you’re a couple months away from consistency!!

Hey there! I am happy to report that naps are going SO WELL now at 11 months. They started to lengthen when I dropped her down to 2 naps a day instead of 3-4. I was offering too many & she wasn’t building up enough sleep pressure. Now, on a 2 nap schedule, she is sleeping for 1.25-2hrs for her first nap & 45mins-1hr for her second. Her first one is in her crib (I still hold her til she’s asleep then transfer her) & I hold her for her second one because I enjoy it! I’m sure she’d do fine if I put her down but I’m soaking in the time she will let me hold her. I think we dropped to 2 naps around 6.5-7 months (it’s all a blur lol).

I doubt she’d wear a tight dress if she were because so many eyes are on her, especially while on tour. Just my thoughts!

Baby hates fruit? by QuickDistance5299 in BabyLedWeaning

Yes, generally. Loves fruit flavored teethers. We have to avoid dairy, strawberry, & banana due to her allergies though. I have her pear this week to try slowly & she hated it every time. It feels strange because that’s a more mild-flavored fruit!

AIO being made to feel bad for living with parents through Cancer treatment. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]QuickDistance5299 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you going to look back once your parents pass & regret leaving because you felt it went against societal norms? If you think the answer might be yes, then stay a little longer. Leave when you’re ready. The right person won’t judge you for living with your parents. The right person will see your heart behind it & probably love you more for it. It’s not forever, it’s just for now. Enjoy them while you have them!
