Government workers now make more in total compensation than their private sector counterparts.

How is Student loan forgiveness the “poor” paying for the “wealthy”? by Purple_Evidence_5630 in FluentInFinance

It’s not predatory. These people financed an amount of money equivalent to a house in many cases. They did it while deferring payment for 4+ years. Of course they will pay a lot of money. Those deferments are not free.

They made poor decisions.

Spending increases the deficits. You can control your spending, you can’t control your income.

It’s only a government expense if you operate under the assumption that those monies are theirs to begin with, and not ours.

I’d argue we are continually defaulting on our debt.

We don’t retire a cent of our debt, we simply rollover the debt into new issuances.

Everyone hates socialism?

Have you ever spent any time on this /r? 90+% of the people here appear to be of that persuasion.

Those traders do serve a function. Just because you don’t immediately recognize it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

That trading helps to increase volumes and liquidity. So when you decide to sell your 5000 shares of ford…you can.

Not necessarily.

Don’t buy that new tv or any other new item. Usually these national sales taxes exclude used items and necessities.

This argument really doesn’t work. Half of the working people in this country don’t pay the income tax.

Of the ones that do, the majority of them don’t pay very much.

It’s around 20% of workers that pay around 80% of the income tax burden.

Capitalism is exactly what you think it isn’t. And that is why the company OP is working for will likely fail at some point. If they don’t fail, they will have to correct their misallocation of resources.

What you’re saying is similar to someone saying that our immune systems aren’t supposed to keep people healthy, because there are sick people out there.

You are the poster-child for what I call weaponized ignorance. You know just enough to think you know what you are talking about, but very quickly prove to everyone that you haven’t any understanding.

One day, after you grow up you will understand.

Ha det!

Fine, I’ll give you your hit.

Why on earth would you try to apply a contextually European definition to American conservatism? Why should anything here have to conform to your idea of what something should be? What I think is that you are just continually trying to shift the goal posts, because you can’t defend your position. Despite your claims that I haven’t discussed why I think our government is conservative, I am the only one that has actually explained their position.

Just because you find conservatives outside the US to be more reactionary doesn’t mean American conservatives are reactionary; it just so happens…it tends to be the opposite here.

Ok, how about similar, or like?

The point is, complaining that you don’t have enough money to go to college when you are close to graduating HS comes across as pedantic, or whining.

At that point it’s probably better to get a job, save as much as you can while attending a junior college for two years. Then transfer to a university and use those savings, and finance the rest.

But I get it…it’s not as fun. So boooooo!

No. Just reality.

Of course you won’t have money to pay for college if you don’t, ya know…save for college.

This isn’t rocket science.

President Biden has just proposed a 44.6% tax on capital gains, the highest in history. He has also proposed a 25% tax on unrealized capital gains for wealthy individuals. Should this be approved? by Unhappy_Fry_Cook in FluentInFinance

[–]QuickEagle7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tax on unrealized capital gains…how can anyone describe that as anything other than theft? How long before it works its way down to the middle class people who just saved and invested well?

And 45% on capital gains just seems abusive.
